Based on recommendation to replace the clutch if clothes aren't spinning dry enough, I ordered a new clutch. Upon disassembly, I observed no Ring Wire/C-Clip and that the bearing appeared worn. Where did the clip go? Well, the bearing wore down such that it wore out the clip and bearing up to the sleeve of the shaft. Knocked out the old bearing, tapped in the new and was done. I looked inside and saw the teeth were worn off the "dogs" so I purchased the Cam Agitator repair kit and a new bolt. Getting the old bolt out was the hardest part since it was worn and rusted. I ended up having to buy a set of socket extensions and a set of stripped bolt sockets so $45 in tools and it took me an hour to get the old bolt out but putting everything back together was a breeze. My wife noticed that our washing machine was making a terrible rumbling noise and seemed to be out of balance all of the time. Removed cover from Whirlpool washer (~20 years old) and found water to be leaking from hose connection at Break Vac. Obviously the hose had to be replaced but the Break Vac looked corroded and partially plugged, too, possibly inhibiting water flow. While the cabinet was off I noticed the Suspension Spring was rusted off so I ordered 1 of those, too. Ordered a replacement valve and installed it. The part from AppliancePartsPro was an exact replacement for the original part. Replaced the hot and cold hoses at the same time to insure no leaks. Cold water settings now work properly again. Read more

A former repair man deleted the grommets from the motor mount plate, the spring fastening the motor to the bracket broke the screw inside the motor and once the motor fell out of place the drive to the the transmission was broken. Read more

Replaced clutch assembly which was a little tricky, but very doable. Just make sure to take your time. I do have to say that I am very impressed with AppliancePartsPro customer service when the replacement part also failed. A new clutch assembly was at my door step a few days later. Researched this kenmore washer on-line and found the problem to be the lid switch. Saw a diagram on how to jump this switch by connecting a wire to both outside wires on the harness and voila! It worked! This is not a fix but it allowed me to finish the load of unwashed clothes and told me which part was bad (do not run washer jumped like this.......fire hazard!) Ordered the lid switch and it was an easy repair. A $14.00 switch was a lot cheaper than a $450.00 washer. Thanks appliance parts... Read more
