Replaced rear bearing, upper and lower felts, drive belt. Have repaired dryer before for same problem years ago, knew what to do, on line diagrams helped to move memory. Motor control board was flashing 4 times, indicating that the mode shifter had an error. I disconnected the mode shifter's wire from the controller and measured the resistance between the 2 leads with an ohmmeter. Since the reading was infinite, that meant that the mode shifter coil or in-line thermal sensor was electrically open, i.e. bad. The hardest part of this repair was determining where (controls, motor, belt or transmission) the problem was. I could see little pieces of rubber from the belt beneath the motor pulley, but the machine is 20 years old and some wear is to be expected. Removed lid. Removed switch panel. Suspected open circuit in thermal fuse. Tested it with a multimeter first to confirm it had an open circuit. This part is obsolete. Contacted manufacturer and found part supercedes to a different part number Ordered part. (This website is very efficient. The part arrived with the 1.7 day promise time.) new fuse bracket is slightly larger due to supercession. Marked bolt hole locations and drilled new. Installed fuse. Re-assembled dryer in reverse order.... Read more

Replaced the heater unit because the heater coil had burned in two. The whole project took less that one hour. I also replaced the dryer timer since one of the cycles would not cool down as part of the process. Read more

• Leaking

The video was very helpful. the hardest part is getting off old rusted parts. I had to use a hacksaw to remove one of the old clamps. I had to open the bottom of the washing machine to remove of the other clamp. Putting the new parts on was easy. Getting everything apart was a challenge.
