The Thermostat is an OEM component specifically designed for GE dryers. As a key component responsible for regulating heat, this thermostat plays an important role in the drying cycle. It monitors and controls the temperature of the dryer, ensuring clothes are thoroughly dried without being overheated or damaged.
Causes of a bad thermostat can include wear and tear over time, exposure to high heat levels that degrade electronic components, or damage from moisture or impact.
Symptoms of a bad thermostat include:
This OEM GE part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

This thermostat is a temperature-sensitive switch that opens and closes the heating circuit to control heat. Replacing a worn or failed thermostat restores consistent temperature regulation and helps protect your appliance from overheating, shutdowns, or underheating.
Changed Thermistor, Thermostats and the Thermal Fuse Assembly. I did not remove drum, so squeezing my hands in-between drum and vent hose pipe to remove screws was a tight fit, but doable. Read more
This sensor monitors operating conditions and relays accurate feedback to the control so cycles run properly. Replacing a failed sensor helps restore correct operation and prevent erratic behavior or fault codes. What it does:
A high-limit thermostat that stops the dryer's heating circuit if internal temperatures get too high, helping prevent overheating and protecting heating components. Replaces a failed high-limit thermostat to restore overheat protection. What it does
Replaced the themal fuse Read more
This high-limit thermostat is the overheat safety switch for the heating circuit. It opens when excessive temperature is detected to cut power to the heater, protecting the appliance and restoring normal heating when replaced.
Replaced the thermostat and working fine now. Read more
This dryer control thermostat regulates internal temperature by cycling the heater on and off. Replacing a failed thermostat restores proper, consistent drying temperatures to protect fabrics and improve overall drying performance.
I replaced both thermostats, the seals and the heating element and the belt. It's an easy job to keep my dryer last longer. Read more
L290-40. 3 wire dryer thermostat.
FIRST I PULL THE DRYER OUT FROM THE WALL AND TOOK THE BACK OFF. WITH A 5/16 NUT DRIVER. NEXT WITH A LIGHT SET UP I LOOKED FOR ANY BURNT, BROKEN,OR LOSE WIRES THAT MY HAVE COME OFF ANY CONNECTIONS. I HAVE AN ELECTRIC DRYER AND AS I LOOKED DOWN TO THE HEATING COIL AREA, WHAT I WILL CALL A HI-TEMP SWITCH I COULD SEE THAT THE PART APPEARED BURNT. I PULLED THE POWER PLUG AND TOOK MY VOLT, OHM, MIL'LI'AMP METER, SET IT TO OHMS ON ABOUT 20K. THEN I TOOK MY NEEDLE NOSE PLIERS AND PULLED ONE WIRE... Read more
This thermostat regulates your dryer's operating temperature for consistent, safe drying. The pink/white variant restores correct heat cycling when the original control fails, helping prevent overheating or underheating that leads to long dry times.
This time-delay fuse protects the appliance's power circuit by opening when current exceeds a safe level while tolerating brief inrush current. Replacing a blown fuse can help restore power once the root cause is corrected. What it does:
I read up on others with this problem of microwave-wall oven combination Whirlpool Gold. We live in a very rural area and were not able to get ANYONE to service it - had 2 companies come out to inspect but they never returned. I have wonderful news! We replaced the fuse, bus fuse, and light bulb (quit working 2 years ago) and all is working. Thanks for the information and for the part diagram. Couldn't have done it without you. Read more
