The Compressor Start Device Kit fixed it. Very easy to do. Only hang up was a part number substitution that was mildly confusing, but it checked out just fine. We were afraid the compressor was bad, but were willing to try this first.

Part Number: 6750C-0004R
The Compressor Overload Protector is an OEM replacement part for LG refrigerators. It plays an important safety role in protecting the compressor from damage due to excessive heat. Located near the compressor unit, the overload protector functions to shut off power to the compressor if temperatures become too high during operation.
Causes can include normal wear over time rendering it less responsive to temperature changes. Mineral or refrigerant deposits may also impede its ability to detect overheating conditions accurately.
Symptoms of a faulty overload protector include:
- Refrigerator fails to properly cool or the compressor does not run
- Circuit board or electrical component failure or burnout
- Lack of cold air production and higher than normal freezer/fridge temperatures
This OEM LG part is also compatible with some Sears/Kenmore models.

Not cooling Paul B. • Frederick , MD • January 15, 2017
8 y/o LG unit was not cooling or freezing. There was a clicking on the back side every 2-3 minutes. Used these 2 issues in a internet search and top 2 cited problems were dirty coils then bad PTC & OLP. Tool off the back panel, compressor was quie hot. Coils did not look excessively dirty but cleaned them anyway. DId not resolve the problem. The OLP & PTC recommended for my unit. were different than the original TSD and I thought I would have to return the parts. However, I got on a chat...

Part Number: WB17X10030
This high-voltage transformer steps household power up to the level needed to energize the magnetron. Replacing a failing transformer can restore consistent microwave heating and reduce excessive humming under load. What it does and common symptoms:
- Steps up AC line voltage to power the magnetron through the high-voltage circuit
- Microwave runs but does not heat food
- Loud humming or buzzing when a cycle starts
- Blows internal fuse or trips breaker immediately after pressing Start (can also be caused by other HV components)
What's included:
- 1 high-voltage transformer
Install notes:
- Disconnect power; microwave high-voltage components can retain a lethal charge
- Discharge the high-voltage capacitor before handling any internal parts
- Note and photo-document wire positions; transfer one lead at a time to avoid miswiring
- Support the transformer's weight during removal/installation and reuse original mounting hardware and insulators
Helpful tip:
- "No heat" can also result from a failed magnetron, HV diode, or HV capacitor; diagnose related components before replacing the transformer.

Compressor not running. James F. • Cudjoe Key , FL • April 02, 2014
I did some research. Found a comment on this website... shake the ptc component it was ratteling... there's a ceramic disc inside the ptc. if broken, this could be the source for the ratteling sound. Sure enough that was happening... one new ptc later an all is good. Ran fridge for 3 days now... no issues
It was gamble, took it.. and came out ahead. The capicitor looked as if was OK... it was not buldging... no obvious burnt marks anywhere.
Tricky part was getting the 'bale' wire reattached...
