Ordered spare part that actually fit my oven. Arrived in three days from next state over. Unplugged power cord, removed racks, used 1/4" socket on ratchet with 6 inch extension to remove two sheet metal screws at lower back of oven. Pulled old element out 2 inches then tilted front of element up 45 degrees for spade connectors to clear holes at back of oven. I looked inside and saw the teeth were worn off the "dogs" so I purchased the Cam Agitator repair kit and a new bolt. Getting the old bolt out was the hardest part since it was worn and rusted. I ended up having to buy a set of socket extensions and a set of stripped bolt sockets so $45 in tools and it took me an hour to get the old bolt out but putting everything back together was a breeze. Turned off the oven power at the breaker box. Removed the (2) 1/4" screws holding the front support bracket and removed the front support bracket. This replacement part is a hex bolt. It is a genuine replacement part made by MTD. Hex bolts are named because they are shaped like a hexagon and are different from the regular circle-shaped bolts. These parts are able to hold other parts secure and in place so that everything can operate as needed. A new hex bolt might be needed if the current ones are damaged in any way. It is possible that these bolts become stripped or lodged in place over time due to normal wear and tear and should be replaced.
