The Defrost Timer is an OEM part for Frigidaire refrigerators. It is an essential electronic component that controls the automated defrost cycle of the refrigerator. The defrost timer monitors run times and temperatures to determine when to initiate the defrost process. It allows the refrigerator to operate efficiently by preventing excessive ice buildup. This defrost timer is designed to run for 30 minutes every 8 hours.
Symptoms of a bad defrost timer include:
Causes of a bad defrost timer can be normal wear and tear over time. Environmental factors like power surges or fluctuations may also impact the electronic timer functionality. This OEM Frigidaire part can also be used on Electrolux, Frigidaire, Gibson, Kelvinator, Westinghouse, and Sears/Kenmore.
My problem first showed up as varying temperature in both sections of my old mid 1970’s Frigidaire model FPCI-170T-7 refrigerator, which is not listed on most appliance repair databases. Running on the warm side from time to time, as well as sudden fan noise (probably the fan blade hitting ice build-up on the evaporator coil) alerted me to a possible defrost system problem, since the compressor was cooling. The evaporator fan eventually failed after a day or so, and a major repair was... Read more
The Compressor Run Capacitor is an OEM replacement part for Frigidaire refrigerators. This electrical component is essential for providing the necessary torque to start and maintain the operation of the compressor motor, which is responsible for cooling the refrigerator.
Symptoms of a failing compressor run capacitor include:
Causes of needing to replace the compressor run capacitor can include normal wear over time, exposure to high temperatures or electrical surges, or physical damage to the capacitor itself.
This OEM replacement is also compatible with Electrolux, Gibson, Kelvinator, and Kenmore refrigerator models.
In short - I replaced the evaporator fan motor and the evaporator fan blade. The Appliance Parts Pros website was extremely helpful to me. Here's how. 1. The site helped me identify that even though my Freezer says it's a Frigidaire, it's actually an Electrolux. 2. The site identified the potential screech causing parts. (I didn't take a chance, I bought all three) It was a worthwhile investment. My freezer is 20 years old so it deserved some help. 3. The site provided guidance videos (not... Read more

This OEM Frigidaire part can also be used on Electrolux, Frigidaire, Gibson, Kelvinator, Westinghouse, and Sears/Kenmore.
Before we replaced the board, my wife tried to replace just the element. We had one we had ordered several years ago when this same thing happened. When that didn't work we replaced the board and could see where the old board was damaged so we figured this was the solution. It would have been except the bottom element my wife used to replace the old element (which was fine but had been thrown out figuring the new one was new so why keep the old one) was 1" shorter in the back than the old... The Evaporator Fan Blade is an OEM part for Frigidaire refrigerators, designed to circulate air over the refrigerator coils and through the food compartment. The fan blade works in conjunction with the evaporator fan motor, and together, they play a key role in the cooling process by distributing cool air evenly throughout the refrigerator and freezer.
Causes of a bad evaporator fan blade can include physical damage, such as cracks or bends in the blade itself, which can occur over time due to wear and tear or during cleaning and maintenance.
Symptoms of a bad Evaporator Fan Blade include:
1. After hearing a loud noise on the freezer side of unit about halfway up, I started investigating what it could be? My conclusion was evaporator motor or evaporator fan blade. One of the signs of this issue was a distinct change in sound when I opened the freezer door. I ordered a new motor and blade, not knowing exactly what it was. 2. I couldn't get water to dispense, so I changed the filter and that wasn't the problem. I ordered a water valve and crossed my fingers. These parts arrived... Read more
The Defrost Thermostat is an OEM part for Frigidaire refrigerators. It monitors the temperature of the evaporator coils and activates the defrost heater when necessary. This process prevents frost buildup on the coils, ensuring the refrigerator maintains optimal cooling efficiency.
You should replace the defrost thermostat if it becomes faulty or damaged. Common causes of a bad defrost thermostat include electrical failures, regular wear and tear, or temperature fluctuations that can degrade the component over time.
Symptoms of a bad defrost thermostat include:
This OEM replacement is also compatible with Electrolux, Gibson, Kelvinator, and Kenmore models.
My Frigidaire side by side refrigerator/freezer suffered a catastrophic failure. The symptoms were as follows: 1) Frig not cold 2) No Ice being made in the freezer section 3) Items at the back of the freezer were frozen but items on the door shelves would not freeze. The back of the freezer was cold but the closer you got to the door the warmer it got. After removing everything from the unit I saw that there was substantial ice buildup on back of the freeze, specifically around the vents,... Read more

This refrigerator crisper bin is the produce drawer that slides into the fresh food section to hold fruits and vegetables. Replacing a cracked or missing bin restores storage capacity, helps maintain proper humidity, and ensures smooth drawer operation.
Had to order a new drawer. However, we then had to remove the front from the old drawer and put it on the new one. There were no instructions on how to do this, even on YouTube. We were afraid of breaking it, so it was a little scary to do. We ended up using a couple of table knifes to ease the part out. Instructions would have made this so much easier and more pleasant! This refrigerator defrost heater warms the evaporator coil during the automatic defrost cycle to melt frost and keep air moving. Replacing a failed heater helps restore stable temperatures and prevents ice buildup on the freezer back panel. What it does:
IMPORTANT: Defrost heater was more difficult to install around the evaporator coils than the APP installation videos show, but it can be installed. See below. FIRST: Unplug the fridge/freezer! I tested the thermostat, mechanical defrost timer, and the defrost heater with a ohmmeter and determined that the heater was bad. NOTE: Thermostat must be cold in order to be tested; otherwise, the switch inside won't close and you won't get a reading from the ohmmeter. Take a can of compressed air,... Read more

This aluminum strap secures the defrost heater firmly against the evaporator coil to maintain proper contact during defrost. Correct contact improves heat transfer so frost melts evenly and helps prevent recurring ice buildup on the evaporator.
Removed the freezer shelves and back panel, evaporator coils were frozen with ice. Defrosted coil and removed defrost heater connectors, measured no continuity in the heater and ordered a replacement. Also discovered the aluminum retention strap was broken and the heater had slipped down in it's position, ordered and replacement strap. Re-installed new heater and strap per the video instructions, repair complete. Most difficult steps were drilling out the drain pan rivet and re-threading... Read more
