Whirlpool W10822635 Motor OEM Part

Lost power for 24 hours due to hurricane Mathew and water dripped into the ice dispenser motor and refroze when the power was restored. Ice maker worked but would not dispense ice. Dispenser motor was frozen and motor burned out. Two screw under the ice bucket reveals the auger motor. Four screws removed the motor. I think they were 5/16 socket. Removing the wiring harness was the only problem. Connection were corroded and a pin broke off the motor and a female connector in the plastic connector on the wiring harness also broke off. There is no wiring harness available without purchasing a whole new door (if even available). I replaced the female pin with another similar female pin. The female pins are removed by prying open the tab on the side of the plastic connector. I found a similar connector to use as a donor in some old computer parts that I had. Since the female pins is not quite the same it did not snap into the plastic connector as it should have so I installed the new motor and plastic connector on the harness then inserted the new female pin into the plastic connector until it seated over the motor pin. Very easy 15 min repair if the connector is not corroded and doesn't break when disconnecting it. If it beaks then you have to get creative as I described above. Hope this helps

The replacement came a day after I placed the order. Wow. I then replaced the motor after viewing the video on your website. It took about five minutes and all now works just fine.

Trouble shot the problem (40 minutes) and decided it had to be a motor failure. Ordered a new one from AppliancePartsPro. It arrived in 2 days as quoted and I then replaced it in less than 20 minutes. It works perfectly again now. Thanks for the help.

I bought a new motor from you folks via the internet. It said delivery would be two days later. Riiiiiiiiiiiight, says I. Two days later it was on my porch!!!!! I had already taken the old, non-working motor out, so I thought it would be easy to install the new one. Not quite as easy as the old one came out. There was a new part to deal with that was not on the original. The directions were fuzzy to me as it really was only a diagram. NOT YOUR FAULT. After I figured out where the new rubber washer went, it WOULD HAVE been a simple installation IF I had a 1/4" drive that was magnetic. Mine wasn't. Laying on my back trying to hold the motor up with one hand and trying to balance the attaching screws on top of the driver while getting the holes lined up was a comics delight. Don't remember how many times the screw fell off of the driver and fell into my face, but is was more than a few times and less than a dozen. Anyway, when all was connected, it worked like new. I'm sure that I saved around $100. That's a good thing.

After having an appliance "specialist" come out to fix this problem less than a year ago, I decided to figure it out myself. What I found was when he dismantled the motor/shaft from the freezer door he didn't replace the seals. Ice got into the motor housing and slowly overtime pushed the shaft up and out of the housing. This also damaged the shaft as it slowly had less and less contact with the motor housing. So, for less than the price of having the "specialist" come back out I replaced the motor, shaft and both the upper and lower seals. It took longer to clear all the ice out of the door than it did to do the replacement a little over 30 minutes total. The Youtube video was very helpful.
