Molly for Model Number DLG0332W I recently changed this dryer from Natural Gas to LP with the conversion kit. Installed orifice and reset gas valve to LP position. The dryer starts, fires up, stays on a while then stops heating. I check the reset button on what I think is the high level thermostat and it is tripped. I push and reset this and it fires up again but quits shortly after. Is my problem the gas valve assembly or the thermostat?? I was assured the previous owner did not have any problems with the dryer on Natural Gas.
Answer Molly, It is recommended that the ventilation is checked through the dryer as well as through the vent going outside for any lint clogs as this can cause airflow to not allow heat to pass through properly. The thermistor 6323EL2001B would need to be tested as well and it should read 10KO resistance at room temperature. A hairdryer can be used to heat up the thermistor and the resistance should decrease as follows: 7.7KO at 90°F, 6.2KO at 100°F, and 5.2KO at 110°F. If the thermistor tests properly, then the gas valve coils 5221EL2002A can be tested and should measure 1.5 to 2.5KO on each coil. If the coils test good, then the likely failure would be the main control 6871EC1061C (unfortunately, the main control has been discontinued by the manufacturer and is no longer available).
