Brian for Model Number mdg5500aww I have a Maytag Neptune Dryer. The flame goes on and turns off after 18 seconds. It will then cycle on and off throughout the cycle but won't dry the clothes well. I have already replaced the coils, igniter and flame sensor. Same problem. I have tested the high-limit sensor and it has continuity at room temperature and shuts off when heated in a skillet. It appears that the flame isn't being pushed far enough through the duct and is hitting the hight limit sensor directly. When I take the high-limit sensor out, it runs without being shut off. Any suggestions?
Answer Brian, Check and clean the exhaust vent system and vent hood, first. Then check the drum outlet vent WP33001799 and blower wheel and housing WP33001789 for clogs and debris. Your post indicates an air flow issue, you may also have a weak hi limit switch WP303395 , if the dryer has been operating in this fashion for a while. Read More...
