Manufacturer Part Number: W10837741

The Lid Lock Strike is an OEM part for Whirlpool washing machines. It is designed to interact with the lid lock mechanism, ensuring that the washing machine lid is securely locked during operation. This safety feature prevents the lid from being opened while the machine is running, which is essential for avoiding spills and ensuring the safety of users.

Symptoms of a failing Lid Lock Strike include:

  • The washing machine lid failing to lock properly
  • The washer not starting cycles or pausing mid-cycle due to a sensed open lid
  • Error messages or indicator lights signaling locking issues
  • Audible clicks without the lid locking

Causes of a bad lid lock strike often involve physical damage from frequent use, misalignment, or wear and tear that prevents the strike from properly engaging with the lock mechanism.

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Answer

Dave, it would be recommended that the washer is checked with a level to ensure that it is leveled properly. If it is, the next step would be to identify if the spin basket W10752719 has fluid in the counter-balance ring at the top. This can be done by rotating the basket by hand quickly and then suddenly stopping it. You should hear fluid rush around, indicating the fluid is present. From there, the next step would be inspecting the hub W10528947 for any damage. If these things check good, then it is possible that there is a loose pulley nut under the tub or that the gearcase W11454734 driveshaft is wobbly.
