Dennis for Model Number LDG7334AAE Maytag Gas dryer:The flame ignites for 15 seconds or so, then switches off. I have checked the coils, and replaced them with new; I also replaced the Hi Temp Thermostat. I suspect the gas valve is bad, but if so, can you tell me why when I bypass the Hi Temp Thermostat, the gas stays on??
Answer Hello Dennis. I think I would inspect the burner first. If the flame continues with the high-limit thermostat by-passed, it seems to me that it must be getting too hot on the side of the combustion cone where the high-limit thermostat mounts. The burner directs the flame so if the flame is shooting out to one side, this could cause this issue. Also, I would double check to ensure the hi-limit WP303395 and cycling thermostats WP307250 haven't been inadvertantly installed in the wrong places. I don't believe the issue is in the gas valve at all because by-passing the high-limit thermostat will not affect the gas valve. Hope this helps! Read More...
