Freezer coils frozen over or fridge not cooling enough? This defrost timer controls the defrost cycle. DIYers report 30-minute repairs with video help.
After reviewing a number of testimonials and your videos from your APP.com site I determined my most likely problem was either the defrost heater, thermostat, timer or possibly all three. The real challenge now began. Getting to the specific parts with my specific model number was a real challenge. It was not as easy as removing the light guard and 5 screws since my model had two Track Cant Shelf vertical rails restricting the removal of the back panel. Also, these rails could not be removed... Fix F06 E01/E02 error codes or washer that won't spin or fill. Direct plug-in replacement takes 30-45 minutes with basic tools. Includes video guide.
The washer would try to start. The door would lock, but then would get stuck in the phase of start-up where the drum needs to roll around (I assume so it knows what's in there). It would sit and think about it for a couple minutes and then give the error codes. I shut it off (sometimes had to unplug it and plug it back in), and it would take about 10 minutes for the door to unlock. After reading about fixes, I decided to dive in and try it (the washer is only 3 years old and I'm pretty... Read more
Range won't heat or display is dead? This oven control board clock regulates time settings and sends power to elements. Moderate DIY repair, 30-45 minutes.
I first checked the power , we had 220 volt at plug, I removed the back of the stove, checked things out , I found that the stove top burners still worked and the oven light worked. I tested and found that we had current to the timer and clock but nothing on the control worked to set the time, or to turn the oven on or to set the oven temp. I ordered this part on June 30th and received the next morning. I disconnected stove from electrical plug. Be Sure to unplug the stove for your... Read more
Fix a dishwasher with no lights, no power, or won't start. This user interface control board manages all electronic functions. Moderate 2-hour repair.
I had to remove the dishwasher about 6 inches then remove the door springs and remove the door. Next was to open the cover to reach the circuit board and remove it. The new board was put in and attached the plug. and put the door back together and reinstall the door and springs. Turned the power to check that the lights came on. After confirming I again had power, I turned the breaker off and reinstalled the dishwasher in the cabinet and restored power. Lastly I ran the machine to ensure that... Read more
Fix a refrigerator that won't cool, has a blank display, or won't defrost. This electronic control board manages temperature and cycles. 15-minute DIY repair.
Given all the symptoms, we figured that the control board went out. First, unplug the refrigerator. The control board was easy to access by removing a panel on the back of the fridge. I unplugged all the connectors and used a putty knife to release the board from the plastic retaining clips. There was some browning on the underside of the board and the back of the refrigerator that suggests one of the capacitors on the board blew. Install the new board by pressing it into the retaining clips... Read more
Fix a dishwasher with no lights on the control panel or buttons that won't respond. This user interface board controls cycle selection and display.
GE Dishwasher would beep intermittently over the course of about a month. It then began to shut itself off. I would have to reset the breaker to get it to come on. Eventually, it stopped working altogether. After confirming that I did in fact have proper power to the appliance. The main control board had power and was in good shape. I then traced the problem to being a bad UI board. Which I found with the help of a nice lady over the phone at AppliancePartsPros.com. Read more

Fix a dryer that won't shut off or has a timer that won't advance. This timer control manages cycle duration. Moderate DIY difficulty, 30-45 minutes.
The replacement from AppliancePartsPros was a perfect match at a good price. The site also provided enough information to be pretty certain the timer was the source of our problem. Once I swapped out the timer the dryer ran perfectly again. The job was very easy except for 1 problem. The timer is mounted to the control panel using 2 pinch/spring clips, 1 above and 1 below. The above clip was easy to compress and release using either standard pliers or needle nose pliers. But the below... Read more
Dishwasher won't start, buttons unresponsive, or display shows error codes? The main control board manages all functions. Moderate DIY repair.
Just removed from front and the console. I wound up replacing the control board because the technician that I had come out said that's what was wrong and it would cost $250 to fix. I replaced the control board and it didn't fix the problem. After doing more research and searching out the error codes, I discovered I had to replace the console. so i did. I was able to return this control board and buy the console. That return policy was fantastic. I was so worried I was going to have to eat the... Read more
Dishwasher won't start or displays flashing lights? The control board manages cycles, detergent dispenser, and water release. DIY repair in 10 minutes.
I went to appliancepartspro.com and found out that the problem could be the main circuit board. I went on and ordered the part, knowing it could be returned if necessary, but it was like music to my ears when I installed the part, myself, and turned the power back on. Easy. Thanks appliancepartspro. Read more
Oven won't heat, overheating, or controls unresponsive? This range control board manages temperature and cooking functions. Moderate DIY repair.
Replaced the oven controller. This needed the only removal of six hex screws securing the back guard rear shield, two-wire plugs on the control unit, and four Phillips screws. All are easily accessible. The only difficulty came from an apparent model design change that separated the control unit and the overlay - the labels for the control buttons (items 20 and 20a in the backyard parts diagram). Mine is a single unit (the overlay could not be removed without damage) led to the assumption that... Read more
Dryer won't stop running or timer knob doesn't advance? The timer control regulates cycle duration. Moderate DIY repair, about 30 minutes to replace.
I'm not at all an expert in repairs...I learn how to fix things as they break by researching online so that I don't have to pay a repairman and by doing so have learned a lot of things as a homeowner, but this was my first dryer repair. My dryer had been working perfectly and then suddenly wouldn't start. The inside light still functioned, so it was still getting power. There was a quiet ticking noise coming from the back when plugged in which I determined to be from the timer trying to... Read more
Dryer won't heat on timed dry or runs continuously? The timer controls cycle duration and heat phases. Common DIY repair, takes 30-45 minutes to replace.
My husband took the panel off. Check different things. Talked to someone at Appliance Parts. He told him some things to test. It was the timer that needed replacing. So happy to have my dryer working again! :) Read more
Microwave display flickering, blank, or distorted? This control board manages timing, power levels, and display functions. DIY install in 20-25 minutes.
First I replaced the flickering digitron after reading elsewhere that it may be just a weak display. The new digit on was still flickering but a little differently. Our oven was still working with either display until suddenly it wasn't one morning. After finding AppliancePartsPros and reading that others had to go further by replacing the transformer and power boards, that's when I looked closer at those parts. There was some smoke evidence on the cover over the transformer and the back of... Read more
