How to Troubleshoot & Replace Frigidaire AP4433236 / 316489403 Gas Range Oven Igniter

I looked up a few possible reasons a gas oven wouldn't heat properly and discovered the igniter was discolored. While taking it out I discovered how fragile the burner could be when I snapped the igniter. I went online to get some advice and a video from AppliancePartsPros.com showing how to replace the burner which included all the safety steps involved - and a warning about the fragile areas of the part. I ordered the new part and followed the instructions from the video and... the oven worked again. I felt very pleased. 

The part arrived within 24 hours with regular shipping. 20-minute job start to finish. 

I ordered the bake element igniter from AppliancePartsPros.com, It got here the day before the expected delivery. Unfortunately, the igniter was damaged when I got it. I emailed them and got a swift response. They shipped me another igniter that day and it was at my house the next day. I installed it this morning and the wife is baking right now. I can't say enough good things about the Customer Service folks at AppliancePartsPros.com. Kayla and Matthew were very professional. Thank you again for that. 

Used online troubleshooting videos to zero in on the defective part. 

Three different websites stated three different values for a good igniter resistance. One said <2600Ohm, another < 1100 Ohm, and the last <400 Ohm. Well, mine measured 280 Ohms so should be OK according to them. Checked the gas safety valve resistance but <5 Ohm, so OK based on what I've read. Suggestions were then to proceed up into the bowels of the control board :(. I figured since the symptoms all coincided with borderline igniter I would try it for $110. Turns out that was the problem. So if you have a Kenmore gas range like me, be suspicious if resistance >=280 Ohm. 

We replaced the oven's ceramic igniter. 

A really simple fix. Videos attached to this part are spot on. If your oven is taking forever to heat up/ignite and maintain that temp its probably because of a weak ignitor. It's a super easy DIY and huge money saver. 

Most notable, was the remarkably quick service to replace the original order that came with the filament broken. The second item was delivered, next day, after contacting service rep, Kenny, who took my call. Thank you, Kenny. Replacement was straight forward and easy following the video instructions.
