How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP3968432 / WH01X10302 Drive Belt

We removed the front panel of the machine and saw that the drive belt had broken. We ordered a new belt from AppliancePartsPros.com along with the belt installation tool. Our order shipped out the same day and arrived two days later. Very quick turn around! After watching the video provided on the website for repairing a broken drive belt, my husband had the machine back up and running in about 15 -20 minutes. Couldn't have been more pleased with this website! 

Replaced Mode Shifter and shaft assembly. The hardest part was removing the tub nut. I did not bother with the tool they sell. I used and impact wrench and a 1-11/16" claw foot I have. A socket would have been better but I didn't have one. Even after letting oil drip into the nut, it took quite a beating with the 1/2" impact gun at full blast. The tub bearing was the second hardest thing. I had to pound it out from the inside carefully to not damage the tub. The tub seal was totally shot and corroded causing some water to drip below onto the mode shifter bearing. While I was doing the job decided to get the tub bearing, tub seal, new belt, and all new hardware. The washer is about 10+ years old and hope I don't need to get in there for another 10+ years. Spent about $200 and about 5 hours, but I took my time working at a cautious pace. The washer sounds brand new again....nice and quiet. 

Replaced transmission and related parts. Several delays were caused by frozen parts, the main one being the large nut securing the inner basket. It wouldn't budge and all efforts using the special tool only turned the outer shaft. I had to use an angle grinder to cut off the nut. Otherwise the repair was just like the process shown in the video. Got to hand it to Appliance Parts Pros for great videos making the job super easy. 

Changed the drive belt..

Replaced the mode shifter and shaft assembly, tub seal, hub nut, and tub bearing. Also changed the belt. I used the repair video for reference and found its explanations clear and valuable. Ordering the parts was easy, shipping fast, and pricing very good. I didn't purchase the spanner wrench, but if your machine is is more than a couple years old, it might be a good idea. Rust makes the nut very difficult to remove - had to grind ours off. Definitely buy a new nut.....it'll save some grief. 

Replaced Axel shaft, while I was in there done all seals, bearings, and belt. At the house in 2 days and all was right parts. 

The videos I watched were very helpful and gave me an idea as how to proceed with the repair.
