Linda D Dayton , OH February 24, 2019 Dryer wouldn't turn on. My husband and I tried to run the dryer, but nothing happened. We both noticed that there was no noise when we turned the knob, which didn't seem right. He pulled the knob off, and we noticed a small crack in it. We also noticed that a small metal piece was loose inside, and appeared to be broken. I looked for parts, and found the d-shaped metal insert and the knob. We bought both pieces, received them in only 2 days, and fixed the dryer. It works perfectly now, and we didn't have to pay for a repair. We couldn't be happier! Read More... Katherine N Redwood City , CA February 18, 2019 Appliance: General Electric Electric Dryer DWSR483EG8CC The rotary switch had super glue in it when we tried e first repair part of the "platform" that the switch fit into had broken off We ordered the new rotary switch and to make sure the knob fit, we ordered the new knob, too. Had to unglue one of the connectors so that took the most time. Then drilled a few holes in plastic projections to hold the new rotary switch-used some wire to hold the switch arm in place and then used nylon ties across the back of the switch. Will always check you for parts first! This should have taken no more than a half hour to take the back off, replace and plus connectors to new switch and secure switch and replace back but melting the super glue took over an hour with nail polish remover and then Goof Off. but it would have been $95 for the appliance company to come out and give an estimate even though I knew what was wrong! Quite a charge if they had to unglue one of the connectors! Read More... Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 2+ hours Tools: Pliers, Screwdrivers

Chad A Birmingham , AL December 19, 2018 Broken timer on Hotpoint dryer All this took was unplugging the dryer from the outlet (just in case), removing the back panel at the top of the dryer (6 screws Phillips Drive) and 1 screw on the timer itself (6 point Star Drive). I twisted the old Timer Counter Clock-wise and out to remove it completely. To make sure that I did not mix up the wires, I removed 1 wire at a time (all but 1 wire was easily removed with my fingers, the last wire I used some needle nose pliers to get a better grip) and connected them to the new timer. Inserted the new timer Clock-wise, attached the screw and tested the dryer to make sure everything worked. Then I put the back panel back on. The timer came with the metal knob insert already attached (now I have an extra just in case) so I slide the timer knob on. Works perfectly again. I was also very pleased with the speedy shipping. I ordered the parts on a Friday and they arrived on Saturday. I wasn't expecting them until Monday. Read More...
