How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP5806667 / WE01X20378 Control Knob

Ordered the faceplate and just for insurance a new switch and know. The installation required a phillips screwdriver, a needle nose pliers, and about 10 minutes of time. Thanks to AppliancePartsPros for getting me the right parts asap...........George 

I watched a short video on how to replace the starter and the starter knob on the Appliance Parts Pros site. It looked very simple and indeed it was. The most difficult part was trying to get to the back of the dryer in order to unscrew and open the back of the panel because the dryer is in a very crowded position. 

Ordered and installed new control knobs. 

Just replaced the parts. 

I ordered the part I needed online. It was delivered to my door less than 24 hours after I ordered it. Within 2 minutes the dryer was fixed. 

Finally ordered the replacement knob and timer assembly, from your company. installed it and problem solved. Took just fifteen minutes, start to finish. 

Unplugged dryer from electric socket... Removed metal protector from rear of backsplash 6 screws ...disconnected all three electrical controls from faulty backsplash..(see videos for correct removal and replacement).... ....removed backsplash....placed new backspash...reinstalled original electrical controls onto rear of new backsplash.....secured backsplash with original metal protector and six screws.....replaced all knobs with new knobs.....plugged in dryer to electric socket...tested dryer ....all functions nominal and working correctly. The real challenge is removing and replacing the 3 electrical controls on the back of the backsplash without breaking the new backsplash.....retention clips on backsplash are plastic and thin and can break off easily as they did on the old backsplash through heavy use of the knobs. 

It was an easy fix, the rotary temperature switch actually fell off, just had to replace re-attach that. Then apply the new knob. 

Removed the back cover and replaced the switch. Control knob was also very loose and decided that should be replaced as well. Remove the back cover (6 screws) Remove switch and disconnect the 3 wires Attach the 3 wires to the new switch and twist into place Press new knob onto the switch, while supporting the switch with the other hand Attach the cover with the 6 screws 

The start knob on my dryer had become loose and the plastic surrounding the shaft hole was cracked in 2 places. The metal clip is still inside, but not strong enough to hold the knob to turn the switch shaft and start the dryer. Poor and weak switch design. But to my pleasant surprise, the replacement knob has a metal ring around the plastic hole for the shaft, meaning it is reinforced and won't break again. The old switch pulled off easily and I pressed the new switch onto the switch shaft and done. I thought about buying a couple more knobs to save on shipping, but didn't, and I pulled other knobs and one is already cracked a bit. Should have done it... Easy repair and good as new - actually better than new, with the metal ring. And the knob comes with the clip.
