How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP6278228 / WR60X26866 Refrigerator Evaporator Fan Motor

Installed new fan. Second time it has been replaced in 5 years. 

Ordered the fan from you, and watched a youtube video on how to install the new one. Which was very good and detailed. 

Removed fridge side recirculation fan, it was seized up. Ordered a new part from you in the afternoon. Received the next day and installed. Works perfectly now. Thanks. 

Found out that the evaporator fan was seized/not running and ordered the replacement from AppliancePartsPros.com. Fortunately, I was able to get the old one running temporarily while waiting for the new one to arrive. After replacing the fan the fridge works fine. The project only really took about a half-hour but I added a little time for troubleshooting. 

After watching your detailed perfect video on YouTube. I was able to tackle it. I was so impressed by it, that I bought your part to fix it. 

The fix was made by replacing the evaporator fan motor. The repair was made quite easy by following the step-by-step video provided for this part by AppliancePartsPros.com. The video instructions show how to dismantle the inside of the refrigerator, to get access to the fan, how to remove and replace it, and put the inside back together again. This condition had been prevalent for some time and as a result, there was quite a build of ice on the evaporator coil and surrounding parts, as a result of the fan not working. The longest part of the repair was to clean up and remove all the ice. 

Replaced the evaporator fan motor. The refrigerator was only 3 years old. I was surprised to see it fail this early, especially for the Cafe model, which is a higher value unit. When I removed the fan motor, I noted it was made in Viet Nam. I don’t know if the quality of their products is very good, but I noted many comments about failed evaporator motors. Maybe GE should get better-quality parts. Otherwise, it was an easy fix.

Ordered the fan from the GE parts list for that serial number machine but when it came it was too big. Did more research on a different site found the right one and ordered. It was great in came in one Day. Had already got the RMA and sent back with the same Fed-ex Driver. Had it up and Cooling in about 10 Minutes. Willie
