How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP6891553 / WR17X22072 Water Filter Housing Assembly

Research online showed possible causes as a water inlet valve and the water filter head assembly. Since both are connected I decided to replace both versus trial and error (parts were not overly expensive). Used videos on appliancepartspro web site as guidance. Replacing both parts was very simple and was done within 30 minutes. 

I located the part on the parts diagram at AppliancePartsPros.com and watched the video that showed how to replace the water filter housing and tube. 

I had ordered the part previously from another vendor and they had sent me the wrong part. Thanks for the correct part. It was much appreciated.

The video supplied by AppliancePartsPros was all I needed to remove the old part and replace it with the new one. I was concerned that the tube connects would work since they fit a little differently. Worked great! 

I did not realize the valve on the pipe behind the refrigerator did not shut off the water. My experience looked like an episode of "I LOVE LUCY" combined with "McGuyver"! I had water everywhere! Just a note: always shut off the main water source. I learned the hard way. Other than that "little mishap", the installation was easy and didn't take long.
