How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP3425746 / WR01X10315 Refrigerator Auger Nut

It was a fairly easy fix. I used the required tools. It only took about 15-20 minutes. Of course I kept watching the repair video over and over in spots. So thank you for those. I got it back together and noticed another broken piece. So now I ordered that piece. Hopefully that’s the last one I need. 

Ordered a new helix lock plate and auger nut. Very easy to find, with the diagram. I reviewed the repair video, it was easy to follow, and made the repair. 

We discovered the damage this way: we knew the general area of the problem and started watching the videos that are featured by the chosen parts, which helped us find all of the issues our ice dispenser had - more than we first thought. Ordering was easy although we did have one of the 3 parts we replaced that was backordered. Once we received all of our parts we watched one of the videos that involved disassembling and reassembling the whole auger assembly and showed us how to completely replace all of the parts we were replacing. And it works! 

The crusher cover has been broken for some time now. Actually a matter of years. Recently it has started dumping a large quantity of cubes after releasing the dispensing arm wasting dumping excess ice on the floor. I decided to go ahead and order the parts as I'm a DIY person and love to save $$. Quite easy to repair with the exception of disassembly of the Bucket from the housing but there is at least one video with instructions on this step minimizing breaking parts. That was the most time consuming avoiding splitting the plastic (warm it up first is the real secret). Ordered Crusher cover, Auger Nut (original damaged but probably usable) and E-clips. Only frustration was all parts shipped individually arriving on three consecutive days. Once all parts received easy to repair and place back in service. I wish the E-style retaining clips were available individually but now I have 9 spares. :) Remember the Auger nut is a reverse/left hand thread. This is explained in the video instructions for the Crusher cover part.

I watched the demo video of how to fix a similar refrigerator AAA provides online and then took the ice tray apart to determined what parts were in need of replacement. 

I ordered the damaged parts that arrived in an expeditious manner. I opened the video on your site and replaced all damaged parts of the auger. Took me a total of10 minutes to do the repair. The ice maker works perfectly now.
