How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP2031031 / WB44X200 Oven Bake Element

I fixed it myself and saved over $2,500, because we thought we needed a new double oven. Unscrewed a totasl of six screws and I have a working double oven now. 

Replaced baking element on GE oven, ordered appropriate part from AppliancePartsPros.com. Watched instructional videos on YouTube. Fortunately I had the appropriate socket to use with socket wrench set. All went well, and oven back to normal for minimal cost. 

Found the part through AppliancePartsPros.com and ordered it within 15 minutes. Ordered on Sunday and it shipped on Monday. Two days later I was cooking again. Outstanding performance on their part. 

As the oven is from 1985, finding a replacement was a challenge. Found AppliancePartsPros.com in an online search, entered the model number, an original element is no longer available, site listed a compatible replacement element. Purchased it on Saturday afternoon, by Tuesday morning it was here. 15 minutes and four screws later the oven was up and running again. 

Found AppliancePartsPros.com online and entered the model and serial number from the inside door frame of the oven. Even though the oven was probably nearly fifty years old, a comparable option came up and after talking with the helpful staff member on the phone, the bake element arrived the next day (express order) and I followed their directions to remove and replace This is a built-in oven so it was slightly different to replace. Took about 15 minutes to turn off the breaker; remove the nuts holding the old element inside the oven; pull it forward with the connected wiring; disconnect the screw holding the wiring to the element; put on a clothespin so the wire would not go back into the oven baxk; and reconnect to the new element. Replaced with new lower bake element, simple fix, removed 2 screws, removed wires, carefully ensured the wires didn’t fall into the oven, then put new element in. Excellent instructions and video, perfect fit. Oven was Hotpoint from the 1970’s new element was exactly right works great again. 

When the bake element arrived, I watched the accompanying video and using those instructions replaced the broken element with the new one. 

I ordered two bake elements for my 36 year old GE double walled oven on a Wednesday afternoon at 4:00pm. Upon checking out, the website said that it would ship on Thursday. The following day, Thursday, 4:00pm, within 24 hours, the parts were on my doorstep. I did not pay for express shipping. Unbelieveable!! After watching the online tutoiral for tips to install, the repair took only 35 minutes to complete. Amazing company that I highly recommend. 

Replaced the heating element. 

I ordered both the broiler and baked elements since the broiler had been broken for some time. The shipping cost was reasonable and I got them the next day! Although it was a relatively simple operation, it took us a while since the broiler elements wires and closeness to the top of the oven made access quite limited. In the end, it all worked out and the elements worked well. Thanks!
