How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP2031031 / WB44X200 Oven Bake Element

I took out the old lower heating element only to find that one the 2 wires had apparently shorted and burned out and therefore was not connected to the heating element. So in reality I did not need a new one but rather needed to resplice one of the 2 wires and reconnect it to the clamp that then connected to the heating element. I used the new heating element rather than bother to return since it really was not needed. 

I got the serial and model number of my oven and then proceeded to do a search for a replacement. Since my oven was very old, my hopes were not too high. I first went to the took manufactures website. The part was available, but costly. I then tried your site and the part was there at a very discounted price. I was happy to see that. Even though with the S&H, it was only a few cents less, I ordered it anyway. I was glad to see that it arrived a few days later! My nephew helped me install it. It only about 20 minutes or so. I would definitely order from here again. 

Ordered new element, turned off breaker and replaced the part. 

Ordered and received the baking and broiling heating elements. Being a 32 year old oven, I just decided to replace both elements and go for another 32 years. Removing the elements was somewhat difficult since I did not want to remove the oven from the cabinet. I removed the screws that held the elements in the oven only to find out that the joining wires were quite short. I could not pull out the elements more than about 2 inches from the wall. This made unscrewing the wires from the elements very difficult due to space restrictions. After about and hour of struggling, I found my "stubby" 3 inch phillips screwdriver and the process was much easier. The entire job took me about 2.5 hours. If I would've used my "stubby", it would have taken about 45 minutes. It's up and running; and I get my cherry pie. 

I ordered a new Bake Element on Monday evening, received it on Wednesday, and replaced it. It was difficult to remove and replace screws because screws were hard to reach and we did not have the proper tools but we did it and my oven is working. 

Ordered a new bottom Bake Element in my 1987 oven and on to Christmas baking and cooking. Sounds old and worn out but she’s vintage now and doing a great job! Use it till it dies or can’t get the parts. Fast shipping and great service…THANK YOU. 

It was really easy. I took the old oven element off, and put the new one on. Took about 1/2 hour. 

Replaced the Bake Element.
