How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP5632594 / WH23X10043 Drain Pump

Replaced drain pump and back to normal. 

Ordered this part in hopes It would fix the problem. It replaced the drain pump (dp040-016) in our GE washing machine. So far the problem has been fixed. Thank you to AppliancePartsPros.com! 

Easily installed new parts. 

Replaced the water pump which took about 15 min. 

I replaced the pump and decided to replace the drain hose from the washer to the wall drain because the drain hose was very smelly. I guess water had been trapped in the system between uses and boy did it stink coming out! It was not a difficult repair, but a bit cumbersome to maneuver the clips back on the hoses to the pump. We pushed the drum out of the way a few inches and that gave us a little more room to work. Videos on YouTube are always helpful! I’ve ordered from AppliancePartsPros.com numerous times and always have great experiences! We fixed our washer for $80, which is less than the service call for a repair!

Great people to work with. The only problem I had was that I had to put on a different clamp. 

I removed the water pump and discovered it has passages under the impeller that I assume help cool the pump. They were full of gunk. To clean I was careful to flex the plastic behind the impeller and used water pressure to clean it out. The old pump is working still but sometimes groans for a second before starting. I have a new pump on hand now because I feel I will need it. AppliancePartsPros did get my pump pkg-ed the same day but shipping still needed a week to deliver one state away.
