How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP3882298 / WB27X10861 Pcb Electronic Power Board

Replaced pcb and power distribution boards 

This board did the trick. It’s not the display but the power control board that was providing dirty power due to circuit board failure. They say it’s degraded capacitors. 

I researched the symptoms here. The info was very helpful. It was not 100% clear which part was at fault, so I picked the top 3. (I did not want to do this several times). I replaced the 3 boards, being careful to note which cable went where by labeling connectors. Reassembled. Plugged in to test. All was good. Reinstalled unit. Plugging the cord in while putting the microwave back in place was the “hardest” part. The unit is back working, just like brand new. The components I received were all new OEM parts in original packaging. . 

REPLACEMENT. OF THE DIGITRON FIXED THE DIM DISPLAY. REPLACEMENT. OF POWER BOARD FIXED THE FLASHING OF DIGITRON. 

I replaced the power board and it fixed the problem. This board was the easiest of the 4 that were replaced. It was just a matter of 4 screws and plugging back in the cables. I just wish I would have changed this board out first. Just wish I could have spoken knowledgeable person who could have suggested to change the part out first. I hope this helps someone save hundreds of dollars. 

Most research pointed to a bad display board which I replaced with no improvement. Then I read someone's story about how they replaced all the boards in their microwave, the power board being the last one replaced, and fixing the problem. I took a chance, bought a new power board, and the display problem was solved! Looking carefully at the old power board I could see faint evidence of a burn around some resistors. I also noticed a slight dried residue on the back of the board. I suspect it was from steam produced during normal microwave use condensing and drying on the board over the years. The steam/residue mix eventually shorted the board causing it to fail. Very thankful for having this forum and reading someone else's story to solve my problem. Hope my story helps others to do the same. 

My microwave is a GE PSB1201NSS01. I was getting either intermittent garbage on the display (kind of like a bad sideways version of The Matrix), or nothing on the display at all. After some amount of time, the microwave would not function at all. I could tell when this happened because the interior light would not come on when I opened the microwave door. I checked the voltages coming from the power transformer and all were close to the values reported here. I removed the power board and tested the capacitors with my meter and found that two of them were bad. I was going to replace just the capacitors, but part of the PCB board near the bad capacitors was also discolored (possibly from heat from the bad components?), so I decided to just replace the whole board. The replacement power board showed up quickly (thanks for the fast shipping!), and only took a few minutes to install it in place of the old one. It actually took longer to screw the case back together than it did to replace the bad board. Everything is back to working well and the display looks great. 

I replaced both the Power Board and Pwb(pcb) Asm Sub at the recommendation of several posts seen on the site. Volila! My Microware operates like new again. Thanks Appliance Parts Pros! 

The flickering issue is corrected after replacement of power board. 

Replaced the Pwb (pcb) Asm Sub part number AP3882298 for $70.87. This part was not hard to replace but was hard to get to. Our GE Advantium microwave is model SCB1000KWW01. You only need to remove the top 3 screws and 2 on the sides. But there are 2 that can only be reached through the holes in the top. You'll need a magnetic screwdriver. Once you get that apart, it's pretty easy to change out the board. Ours is working much better now. Not sure it is completely fixed but much better.
