Questions & Answers

For Ge Pcb Electronic Power Board (Part Number: OEM11646903)

Hello Crystal, thank you for contacting APP, The display flickering is likely a poor connection to the Digitron WB27X10856, an issue with the Digitron itself, or the Display Control Board WB27X10858. I would first disconnect the appliance from power and check and reseat connections at the Digitron.

Steve for Model Number GE ZSC1001KSS01

Hi, after cleaning the inside of my GE ZSC1001KSS01 microwave with a little water, the display got wacky but after leaving the door open for an while, it restored perfectly. Then, after a week, the microwave stopped working (only the turntable would slowly rotate with the door closed). Checking the components, I found smoke residue on the power board AP3882298, the transformer WB17X10021 and inside the cabinet by those parts. After reading some posts here, I checked for voltage from the transformer to the power board at connection CN7 and tested the Ohms on the transformer. All readings were bad so I contacted AppliancePartsPros and was advised that the turntable rotating with the door closed indicates a relay control WB27X32849 failure which can also stop sending 120VAC to the power transformer. So, I replaced that part. Now there is still no power, only “beeps” when you press various buttons on the keypad. Also, the turntable no longer rotates when the door is closed. What part(s) would you recommend I try replacing next? I understand that GE has discontinued the transformer WB17X10021 but it is still available (NOS) from other online vendors. Would you start by replacing the power board AP3882298? Or the transformer WB17X10021? Both parts? The control display board WB27X10858? Something else? Is there something else that I can test with my trusty Ohm meter? Thanks!

Steve, If the display is working then the transformer should be fine and it would be more likely that the power board would be the issue.

Roger, the power board would need to be tested at the connection CN7 for voltage from the transformer WB17X10021. From the yellow wire at pin 1 to the black wire at pin 2, there should be 12VDC. From the white wire at pin 3 to the black wire at pin 2, there should be 19VDC. Finally, there should be 7 VDC from the red wire at pin 4 to the brown wire at pin 5. If the voltages are good, the failure would be in the power board. If the voltages are not testing good, the failure would be in the low voltage transformer.

Joe for Model Number ZSC1000KBB01

Bought a new display board (WB27X10856) from you: flickering again after working for a month. I tested the transformer (WB17X10021): Ohms results: source white & black = target 23.2 - actual 22.6 (slightly low) yellow & black = target 1.5 - actual 1.5 — Volt test = target 13VAC - actual 13.1 black & white = target 5.2 - actual 5.2 — Volt test = target 20VAC - actual 20.1 red & brown = target 1.1 - actual 1.0 (slightly low) — Volt test = target 8VAC - actual 8.2 It appears to me the transformer readings are either right on or only slightly off, so guessing the transformer is working fine. Would you agree that replacing the control board (WB27X10861) is next? Should I also be replacing the Pwb(pcb)Asm Sub (WB27X10858)? Thanks, Joe

Joe, Check the wiring between the control board and the digitron and if the wiring is good the replace the digitron.

Jed for Model Number scb1001kss01

I am working on the flickering display issue with my GE Microwave/Oven (scb1001kss01). I tested and replaced the transformer power WB17X1002. The replacement transformer also did not test to the suggested Ohms that I have seen in your posts: "With the power supply to the appliance turned off, the white wire and black wire tested together should measure 23.2 Ohms when tested with a meter. It should measure 1.5 Ohms from the yellow wire to the black wire, 5.2 Ohms from black wire to white wire, and 1.1 Ohms from the red wire to the brown wire." So I went ahead and replaced the Power Board WB27X10861. The screen is much better but still flickers sometimes and the cooking timer does not keep accurate countdown time when it flickers. There is a noticeable difference in behavior with the new Power board, but it is still not right.

Jed, based on the information provided, the failure is in the main control WB27X10858 as it is still flickering and the countdown is not maintaining a correct measure.

Jeff for Model Number SCB1000MBB001

The display on my microwave sometimes displays random characters (flickers) when turning the Select knob, pushing the buttons, and/or while heating up food. The microwave works fine otherwise. Sometimes I need to reset the microwave by toggling the breaker to get it to work right. To try to remedy the situation I bought part WB27X10856 (Digitron). After installing the part and upon plugging in the unit, the 1st relay clicks but the 2nd relay by the front panel does not energize. So, the microwave does not turn on (to standby mode). When I install the original Digitron, the microwave turns on as usual. Did I order the incorrect part (Digitron) or is there another part that is failing? From a web search, parts WB27X10858 and WB27X10861 could be suspect. Which parts do you suggest I try replacing next?

1 Answer

Jeff, it would be recommended that the transformer WB17X10021 is tested. With the power supply to the appliance turned off, the white wire and black wire tested together should measure 23.2 Ohms when tested with a meter. It should measure 1.5 Ohms from the yellow wire to the black wire, 5.2 Ohms from black wire to white wire, and 1.1 Ohms from the red wire to the brown wire. If these readings check good, the likely failure would be the power control board WB27X10861.
