At first, we just thought we had a clog. We used a wet vac to suck all of the water out of the dishwasher. We removed and rinsed off the the ultra fine filter (although, it really wasn't dirty) and the coarse filter. Our dishwasher is plummed to a air grap (not garbage disposal). We removed the caps ont he air gap and the discharge hose on the dishwasher, then we used an air compressor to blow some air through to make sure there wasn't a clog. When those didn't work, we resorted to buying this pump. Unplugged the dishwasher (just the electrical, kept the water supply and discharge hoses hooked up because we had plenty of slack), removed 2 screws that bolted the dishwasher to the cabinet, pulled it out, turned it over onto its left side, easy access to the pump, removed 3 hose clamps and electrical connector, slapped the new pump in, righted the dishwasher, plugged it in, started it for about 2 minutes, then cancelled it, pump turned on and evaced the water, so slid it back into place, screwed it back down. I'd say it took us 30 minutes and we went super slow. Video on the site is very helpful as are some videos I watched on YouTube. Easy peasy
