How to Troubleshoot & Replace Lg AP4436839 / 2W20017E Outer Door Gasket Clamp

It was a bad bearing. I tried to get the bearing out, but it was not budging, so I ordered the full outer tub assembly. It came with the bearings and bearing seal, in addition to the new hoses. It all fit together perfectly and the washer is working great again. I also purchases a new tub seal (replace all seals so no leaks) and outer door gasket (older one was rusting). The videos were amazing and made the project much easier. 

8 days before our Griswald Family Christmas And 5 days before 9 people started arriving, I get a panic call from my wife that the LG Tromm washer would not stop filling the drum with water, even after I tell her to pull the plug. Googled this common problem and Appliance Parts Pros came up. Not only did it tell you the correct part (cold water valve 4 outlets) but also showed a video of how to install it, which was dead on. Only thing I would add to the video is to tap the lid all around the outside with your fist to loosen it. Once I got that off just follow the video. 10 minutes at the most. I ordered the part at 3:30pm on Friday with expedited service, which usually means next business day which was Monday and that's cutting it close. To my surprise 10am Saturday the part arrived. Thanks Appliance Parts Pros and FedEx for saving Christmas.

Changed out door switch and door latch hook. Watched video it was so easy. Appliance Parts Pros save me hundreds of $$$$. This is the 3rd time I used this company I must say they are the best. 

I started by watching the video and it was very helpful. I would make one suggestion. On our model the weights on the tub sit very close to the front gasket. It is much easier to put the gasket on the tub before you put the weights on. Also, since the washer was tore apart, I replaced the hoses and seals and shocks since the machine is about 8 years old. The shocks made a huge difference. It spins like it did when it was new. Thanks for the video, it was very helpful. 

Replaced bearings and seal. This job is not very hard, but is not for everyone. The hinge assembly and clamp assembly were for a different washing machine. 

I googled LG Washer part number which led me to Appliancepartspros.com There I read about the noise and burning smell which was a broken Spider Arm Assy. Ordered all parts I thought I needed for complete repair so I wouldn't have to open up for years to come (Bearings, seals). After the repair was complete, the washer still would not drain. removed the front panel again to access the pump, opened housing and found rubber-like debris behind the impeller. Reassembled and now drains. Washer works perfectly, and might go another 15 years! The front boot was the hardest item to do, found a video on-site to watch. BTW, the front panel is like handling razor blades! wear gloves, still, have a good bleeder going. 

My 10+-year-old LG washer stopped draining and was displaying the “OE” error message. After emptying quite a but of garbage from the filter, I noticed that the small drain hose next to the filter was completely full and clogged with sand. It was like concrete and no way was I going to be able to clean it out. So, I read some online forums, and watched a bunch of you tube videos, and decided that the drain pump was probably the reason for the “OE” message. I ordered a new drain pump, a new hose, and a new door gasket clamp (I could see mine was rusty and for $5, I decided to get another one just in case the old one broke) The parts came In a day and 1/2 ~ amazing! - and I was able to do the repairs myself in a few hours. Saved a couple of hundred bucks, for sure. If you’re thinking about attempting this repair yourself, go for it! It was the first time I’d ever done it and it was not difficult at all. 

Unplug the washer, remove the top, unscrew the control panel, do not unplug it, remove the detergent drawer, clean, remove the trap panel, clean, remove the outer door gasket clamp, unplug the door latch connector, unscrew the front panel, remove the front panel, remove the top hose, remove the inner door gasket clamp, remove door seal, clean around drum and seal seats remove fitting from old seal, and clean. install fitting in new seal, set inner seal into place, a little soft soap helps here, install inner clamp, reconnect hose to top of seal, reinstall front panel, reconnect door latch connector, position seal on front panel, a little soft soap helps here. install outer door clamp, reinstall the trap panel, re insert the detergent drawer, re connect the control panel, reinstall the top, plug in washer and run a cycle to check for leaks,
