Jon P Melissa , TX February 16, 2022 Appliance: LG Dryer DLE5977SM Lg dryer wouldn't start would make a humming sound but no rotation Tearing the dryer down revealed that one of the springs on the centrifugal switch had worn through one of the "ears" holding it in place on the motor, allowing it to fall off the motor. On-line research indicated that rotating the drum by hand might allow the dryer to start. Re-assembly and drum rotation by hand and then turning on the dryer produced the desired results, and allowed the use of the dryer until permanent fix was done. Ordered a new motor from AppliancePartsPros.com, and replaced it when it came in two days later. Replacement took less than three hours working in the cramped space of why laundry room. Videos from AppliancePartsPros.com provided enough instruction to allow me to do the repair without any difficulty. The dryer works just fine now. Read More... Brandan H San Diego , CA January 18, 2022 Drum motor wore out. Replacing the drum motor was pretty straight forward using the video on this site. The most important thing you should not miss in the video is that the bolt on the fan assembly comes off opposite than what you'd expect (it's righty-loosy). Took me about 1.5 hours total because I took my time. Read More... Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 1-2 hours Tools: Screwdrivers, Socket Set

Thom W Aurora , CO January 08, 2022 Appliance: LG Dryer DLE5955W The drum is not turning. I found a video online that showed how to take the dryer apart to replace the motor. The replacement motor I received from AppliancePartsPros fit perfectly and once I put the dryer back together, it started at once and worked perfectly. I did take the opportunity while the dryer was apart to replace the belt and the drum wheels and vacuum out the interior. It may seem daunting to take the entire dryer apart, but it turned out to be a rather simple process and saved me the expense of having to pay a service charge from a repair company. Read More...
