How to Troubleshoot & Replace Lg AP5214765 / MEE61841401 Oven Ignitor

Ordered a new igniter. My particular range has two ovens, the lower convection oven being the one with the error code. To replace it you have to take the blower cover (blue) and internal (silver) panel off inside the oven located on back wall. The disconnect is located on the back so you have to take off back panel also. All in all, it took less than 30 minutes. Took longer to clean once I was finished! 

Replaced the oven igniter. 

Replaced ignitor with new one. 

Ordered a lower igniter. The burner on my LG is inside of the back wall. This repair took longer than I expected. The problem is that the electrical connection is behind the stove. There was not enough space to pull it through to the inside of the oven. I had to pull the stove out from the wall. After removing the back of the stove, I had to cut the wires to the igniter. There were no wire nuts included to make the connection. After finding small wire nuts, I was able to complete the repair, and the new igniter fixed the problem. I took cold resistance readings on both igniters. The new one was 62 ohms, and the old one was 251 ohms. The current through the old one, was probably low enough to prevent reliable ignition of the oven. 

Replaced the Oven Ignitor that was ordered. 

I had to remove both the internal fan cover and the fan in the lower oven. As well as the cover panel on the rear of the oven to access the ignitor and unplug it. It took about an hour to complete the repair once I figured out how to get to the ignitor. I watched a few youtube videos that helped. 

I replaced the Oven Igniter on my LG gas range. It was very easy to swap out. 

Heard an arc from behind the oven and the breaker tripped. Found the wire to the igniter was ran over a sharp surface right up next to the burner. Purchased the LG original part because my wife bakes a lot of bread with high heat and I didn’t want to mess around with an aftermarket igniter and have it go bad. Replaced the igniter in less than an hour. 

I called AppliancePartsPros.com with the correct model and serial number and ordered the part. I received the part two days after ordering it. The oven kept giving an F11 error. We tried cleaning the cover behind the push buttons. That was not the issue. The stove worked but the oven would not heat unless I turned a burner on until the oven showed heating over 100. But would take a half hour to heat to the selected temperature. After removing the door and two bottom panels of the oven, replacing the igniter was easy and the oven works great. Their customer service is great as well. 

The igniter would glow, but no gas flow. Bought the unit used and was told it had been tested and worked perfectly- that the igniter could not need replacement… The new igniter fixed the problem though! Followed-up advice on the forum assured me that these igniters don’t click off after lighting (like a furnace does). This was very helpful !
