David D Allentown , PA April 08, 2017 Appliance: LG Washer WM2016CW Noisy banging during spin cycle Replaced spider arm, and both bearings. Bearings were probably OK, but as long as I had the thing opened up, I thought worth replacing. The video was extremely helpful and well detailed. Removing/reattaching the pistons was a bit tricky, and removing the bolts on the old spider was really tough. Definitely needed penetrating oil and heat, plus a breaker bar. This repair not for the meek. Read More... 1 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 2+ hours Tools: Nut Drivers, Pliers, Screwdrivers, Socket Set, Wrench Set
Rob D Nesbit , MS January 15, 2017 Appliance: LG Washer WM2016CW Broken spider bracket Watched the on line repair video, orders bracket, bearings and seals since I was going in I might as well get it all replaced. Machine started emitting a burning smell and was actually starting to smoke. Tub was rubbing against rubber boot causing the smell and smoke. The repair was quite easy, I believe I spent more time cleaning the nasty inside that actually repairing. My spider was completely broken one one arm and cracked almost in half on another. Video was worth the time to watch, fairly easy repair and washing like a new one. Steve B Sausalito , CA October 16, 2015 Appliance: LG Washer WM2016CW Loud noise then smoke I could see that the tub was completely loose inside the washer. So, I went online and google'd the model of my washer and found the videos posted by ApplianceParts.Pros.com. Amazing! After I watched the video, Since a replacement washer would be close to $900, I decided better to give it a shot fixing my washer than to start calling repairmen to get a $400 quote to fix it. I was able to disassemble the machine myself and found that the "Spider" was completely corroded. WHAT A BAD DESIGN. They mated a cast aluminum spider to a stainless steel tub and let that soak in washing machine fluid. Not the best. My machine is eight years old. I ordered the parts from APP.com and they were here in two days. Took me about two hours to finish putting the machine back together and viola! It works fine. Elizabeth E Frostburg , MD April 27, 2024 Appliance: LG WM2016CW/00 Broken spider arm We watched the video which was great. Took it all apart and reassembled the washer with only one issue - the bolts holding the spider arm were frozen on and we had to drill out the heads and use replacement bolts. But all-in-all, video was great and the washer works! Read More... Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 1-2 hours Tools: Pliers, Screwdrivers, Socket Set
Steve H Lynch Station , VA March 31, 2021 Smoking in the washer I followed Simon on your video and had to dismantle the LG washer and replace the spider bracket, bearings and seal. The seal is what was causing the smoke. The video was excellent and the parts were right. The washer is working great now! The repair took a few hours but a lot of that time was spent cleaning parts before reassembly. This is the second time I have repaired one of my appliances with your parts and videos.
