How to Troubleshoot & Replace Lg AP4439264 / 4434ER0003C Spider Arm Assembly

Tore LG washer down with the help of your video, found the spider arm was coming to pieces. Bearings turned freely. Just ordered the arm and tub gaskets. They arrived in two days. Put it back together and it worked the first time. Would have spent half the cost of a new washer to have it repaired. Even though I am pretty handy, my family was offering condolences because they did not believe it would go back together and work. Your videos made the job do-able. As someone else said, putting the inner door gasket retainer on before the tub weights is a better idea. Not removing the inner ring at all is even better, though. 

I ordered a new spider, outer door gasket clamp and the tub seal. 

Replaced spider 

Ordered the bearings and seal. Took the machine apart and found the spider arm broken. Replaced the above and the machine is now very quiet. However during the rinse cycle the machine leaks when it is filling up. The outer drum is no longer available. There is a slice in the outer drum from the inner drum. 

Took entire unit apart! The video from your website was key. 

I followed the video and replaced the spider with drum gasket, and shocks. It took my son and I about 3 hrs. This is a somewhat complicated repair but in the video the tech broke it all down so it was a step by step repair. Make sure you use 6 pt. sockets. The bolts that attach the spider will be very tough to get off. Bolt size is M8 course thread. They are dissimilar metals. The spider was almost disintegrated. One of the other signs of drum wear was gasket material showing up in the clean out at the bottom of the washer. 

Replaced spider in back of drum, inner and outer bearings and seals (out drum seal and beating seal). Video online was very helpful to know what was involved. 

I replaced every part possible that was associated with the bearings. 

Watch the video as a reference. The video was incredibly straightforward and easy to understand as well as using extremely simple tools. Spider was cracked and fully corroded. I washed all the parts. Both sides of the plastic tub enclosure, and the stainless steel drum as well. I used purple Scotch Brite for the stainless steel work great. I used a stiff brush to clean the inside tub enclosure. Extremely well made washer, I will continue buying this brand. To improve the longevity of the spider and its corrosion problem, it might be a good idea to powder coat it before installing.
