How to Troubleshoot & Replace Samsung AP5579032 / DC97-16350D Washer Support Damper Rod Assembly

I replaced the suspension support rods in about 10 minutes and it works great now. If your washer has had the "exploding washer" fix, there will be two 13 mm bolts that are holding the top down. If you shine a flash light between the drum and the top of the machine, you should be able to see them. Remove them and then the top will pop off. Pretty easy fix and saved me from having to replace the machine. 

Replaced suspension support rods (4). You could tell after replacing the first rod how much difference in height the tub came up in that corner and when all the rods were replaced how much more force you could feel when pushing the tub downwards. Pretty easy job. The two metal tabs in the front that hold the lid on were the biggest problem ,because they fell down to the bottom of the machine base. Used a magnetic screw driver taped to a stick to reach them. I may have hit them to hard with the putty knife, ( note to self ). Make sure you have the lube for the plastic where it sits in the metal seats. I did some heavy loads and no problems. Also on my machine you can turn it on and hold the spin button till everything clears and just time for spin shows 11 minutes for spin, no water. 

Replaced the suspension rods. 

I replaced all 4 of the balancing rods that was very simple and easy to replace. But unfortunately I think the shaft is bent because it’s still throwing the code. I also tightened the washer in the drum. 

I replaced the four suspension rods and the problem is fixed. 

Bought 4 suspension rod assemblies. Watched how to video a few times them made repair. 

Installed 4 new suspension support rods. Also, I added additional egg crate foam support pieces to the walls of the washer. There was already foam there that had been installed by the factory but was old and tired!! This foam stop lessens the amount of travel in any direction that the tub might try to move in as it is spinning. This combination corrected the problem immediately and should last at least until the springs on the support rods give out again. 

New Suspension Support Rods. 

Replaced the dampers with the recommended part. Followed the video instructions from AppliancePartsPros.com. Repair was simple and the few loads of laundry have spun without issues. I would suggest using heavy gloves to grab the old dampers as he does in the video. 

I watched the repair video on your site, then ordered the four rods. The installation took me less than fifteen minutes.
