How to Troubleshoot & Replace Samsung AP5579032 / DC97-16350D Washer Support Damper Rod Assembly

Replaced the suspension rods. All the research pointed to this being the problem and so far machine washing with no problems. Technical support from Gloria with Appliance Parts was great very pleasant person I am grateful for her help. 

I replaced the damper rods and the problem has gone away. The video guidance from AppliancePartsPros.com was ESSENTIAL to me being able to pull this off. I watched it once, ordered the parts (with help from someone in a chat session - to make sure I got the right ones) and then watched the video again. It was super easy to follow. I'm very impressed. 

Our washer kept throwing the "dc" code every time we had any sort of load. After doing some research I found that the dampers will go out and cause the washer to be unable to keep a balanced load. I replaced these by removing four screws that hold the top of the washer in place, then balance it up in the air while I just removed the original dampers by hand. It probably took around 20 minutes total and saved me the cost of having a repair service come out. 

We watched a few YOU TUBE videos and decided to do this ourselves, so we ordered 4 support suspension rods from AppliancePartsPros.com along with a bottle of Washer Magic cleaner that the rep offered us. My husband and I worked together and got the it all done within an hour. Honestly, we are in our 60s and he probably would have done it by himself a back in the day, but it was helpful that I could hold the drum out of his way and hold a light for him to see where the lower part of the rod had to go. I will warn you not to put your fingers around the upper part of the rod to try and place, as you might end of with crushed or missing finger tips. That did not happen, but I could see where it might given an accidental slip of the rod. 

I replaced the 4 damper assembly rods. 50 washes later, works like new. 

I replaced all four damper / stabilizing rods exactly like the video showed and the problem was solved. The entire repair took approximately 20 minutes from start to finish. With the combination of the video and the suggested replacement parts, it was a breeze and would highly recommend anyone to do it themselves as well. Since the repair, I have run about 20 heavy loads and the washer runs like it did on the day we got it.

I ignored the problem for almost a week. Went online and saw others had the same problem. Easy fix. The hardest part was popping the clips to lift the top off the washer.

Did the job! Replaced all four suspension rods. Washer works like brand new again. Repair took less than 1/2 hour. My model only required a Phillips Screwdriver and a putty knife. Couldn't spot anything wrong with the existing rods so I assume the springs were shot or barely strong enough to begin with.
