How to Troubleshoot & Replace Samsung AP4202690 / DC31-00054A Washer Drain Pump

Error message that water would not drain, check pump. Ordered the drain pump and replaced, works great now. 

I ordered the pump on Saturday and it came in on Wednesday. It was an exact fit and worked perfect. 

With a ND error code I determined that the pump was not operational. I ordered the parts and they came on time. Based on previous experience I was able to make the repair in 45 minutes. I will not that the video that came up with these parts was for a top load machine not front load. Regardless, I had been into the machine before so remembered the sequence of disassembly. One note of caution is that the spring clips did not properly seal the main water exit line on the new housing. Discovered leak after reassembly and first load of wash. Pulled apart found the leak and fixed with a band/screw clamp (radiator clamp). 

The most difficult part was determining whether the drain pump was bad. I cleared all debris from the hoses and the tub still not draining. With water in the tub, I pressed the spin-only cycle to attempt to drain. Then opened the filter on the front to watch for the impeller not to turn. This did dump water out but without an electrical meter, it was the only sure way to know. Ordered part which came very fast. Finding the right part of the website was very easy. Used a Phillips head screwdriver for most of the job. The videos here were perfect for this project. Straightforward and concise. The videos backed up everything I was doing and gave me the critical tip on reinstalling the rubber boot for the door/tub. Go for it. You can watch the video and solve your issue which SAVES you huge money instead of buying a new machine. 

YouTube video for pump replacement was very close to my washer repair (pump in different location, few different screws), video listed with part was very different. Straight forward repair. Black rubber valve on pump was not mentioned in video, came off when grey hose was removed from pump, needed to put back on to pump assembly. Very fast part delivery 

Replaced the drain pump assembly. The washer/dryer was stacked in a confined space. I got help sliding the units out enough to shut off water and gas (gas dryer) and unhook all dryer connections. Took the dryer from the top of the washer and serviced the washer in place. Following instructional videos and taking my time, I changed the drain pump assembly. If I must repeat this repair, I will remove the door lock mechanism completely. After replacing the drain pump, I ran the washer through a rinse and spin cycle to test functionality. Hearing the pump engaging and the water draining was a good sign. Cleaned the area where the units stay and with help, put the dryer back in place and pushed both units back in place. I could have purchased a replacement pump for about 1/4 the cost but because of some bad reviews about the other units, I chose OEM from Appliance Parts Pros. Their delivery was prompt. It was a successful start to 2022. What else is there to do on New Years Day?

Replaced the water pump but most importantly, removed a quarter from the drain pipe, 

Ordered a new pump came the next day! Installed in five minutes! very pleased!!!
