How to Troubleshoot & Replace Samsung AP4211487 / DC61-01215B Dryer Idler Tension Spring

New belt, new idler and spring 

Took the dryer apart found that the belt tensioner pulley had locked up. The belt had cut into the pulley. 

Sounded like it was going to shake itself to death. I first replaced the blower fan but then went back and replaced the idler pulley. Both were bad. The dryer used to shake my whole house. Now, it’s as quiet as a baby’s breath. Used both of the videos that the pros had on youtube. My mileage was varied as each of the dryers were just a little bit different than mine. The point was well received though. A little work around and I nailed it. Easy, cheap fix that I should have done several years ago. 

The dryer stopped working. No error code. The drum is not rotating. I assumed that the belt was broken and ordered the belt. However, later after disassembling the dryer to replace the belt, I learned that the idler was also broken and the spring was twisted to some extent. At this time I stopped working and ordered the idler pulley and the spring. Once the order was delivered, I replaced the idler pulley, spring and belt. 

The dryer would turn on but only clicked after starting the cycle. Took it apart following a YouTube video for a different issue, saw the belt was broken, took the drum out, and realized the belt pulley was stuck and both the pulley and belt had worn down until they broke. Replaced both the belt and idler pulley and now it's running well. 

Replaced the broken drum belt. For good measure I replaced the tensioner and spring along with 2 roller wheels which seemed to be showing signs of wear. The videos provided by AppliancePartsPros.com made the whole process simple and straightforward. 

I opened the dryer & discovered the broken pulley. I ordered a new pulley assembly, belt, & spring. My old belt was not damaged but I ordered a new one since I had the dryer opened for repair. The difficult part of the repair was reattaching the belt around the idler pulley & to the motor. You have to be able to attach the belt by feel only because you have very little space to see the belt & pully. I used the video provided on your parts lists to make sure I was attaching the belt properly. After the repair it was just a matter of figuring how to reassemble the dryer. The dryer works fine now. 

Ordered the parts. Watched the videos and they were great. I am not a Mr. Fix It. I gave it a try with the videos and had zero issues. 

I replaced the belt tensioner and spring along with two of the drum roller assemblies. I purchased the OEM parts from AppliancePartsPros.com. I used their videos as well as youtube videos for my specific model of dryer to figure out how to remove and replace the old parts. The videos made the process so much easier than it would have been otherwise. The edges of many of the pieces are sharp, so make sure to wear gloves as needed. I've only been using the dry for a few days since the repair, but so far so good. This was my first time replacing the parts and the entire process (getting the correct tools, towels, etc, removing the old, and putting everything back together took about 3.5 hours. Many of the videos indicate about 2 hours, so I was slow. 

Disassembled the dryer after following the videos you provided. Found the broken pulley. Ordered parts and got them within five days. Reassembled and all seems to be working well. Thank you for your assistance.
