How to Troubleshoot & Replace Samsung AP4201898 / DC47-00018A Dryer High Limit Thermostat

We followed the video online. It took a bit longer than we thought that it would for 3 reasons: 1) our laundry room is a tight space and the dryer is mounted on top of the washer. 2) we needed to clean the interior because we had, at some point, dried a feather pillow which opened spewing thousands of feathers. 3) the thermal fuse, the old one needed to be removed from a mounting which had the tiniest unusual screw. We could not get it off and prayed that the old one worked. Thankfully it did! I would recommend that the fuse come mounted like the heating element does. 

Parts came very quickly! We were able to make the replacements easily with the help of the recommended videos and got it going again! 

Strongly recommend buying thermostat and thermal fuse assembly to replace along with the heating element. I replaced the heating element which initially fixed the problem. However, it only worked for one load. The thermal fuse had gone bad. So, I once again took it all apart, ordered the thermostat and thermal fuse assembly. I didn’t think the thermostat was bad, but replaced it just in case. Having to take everything apart for a third time wasn’t going to happen! The dryer has been working great since! First time it took me a few hours because the screws were so tight and I was so methodical. The second time, it took less than 20 minutes to have it apart, replace parts, back together and working! Definitely much easier with knowledge and practice. NOT going into the dryer repair business though! 

Called a tech and he walked me through what was the cause. I ordered part, put it in and now I can dry my clothes. I will use and recommend appliance parts pros to any one thank you and it was nice to talk with a real English speaking person on phone for a change. Lets bring that back America. Thanks, Dave 

I changed the heating element, went very well. Thanks to the videos on appliancepartspros.com, I even learned how to change the thermostat/fuse while I had the unit open. It was alot more difficult than usual since I have a stackable dryer. But once the heavy lifting was over, it was a pretty simple repair. 

I pulled the dryer apart. Very simple. Just watch the motherboard. Dryers are a great DIY project. Few parts to pull apart and one inside easy to replace parts. I had a burnt-out igniter for the gas. At the same time, I replaced thermistor, thermostat and thermal fuse. I broke the plastic door switch. Go slow and you will be good. Thanks for the fast delivery and your courtesy in dealing with me. The appliance parts pros video was one of the best diy videos I’ve seen and followed. That and a few pictures with my phone got me through the repair. 

I replaced the thermistor, thermostat, and heating element by following the generally quite accurate and very nicely detailed instructions on AppliancePartsPros videos. I was not able to replace the thermal fuse (which proved unnecessary anyway) because the part sent by APP did not include a particular mounting bracket that my appliance had riveted to the fuse. 

I ordered a new heat thermostat and thermal fuse. I watched the repair video on your website and performed the repair. It only took about an hour to disassemble and reassemble the dryer. All is well, the dryer is working properly. 

Replaced dryer heating element. Definitely you should wear gloves. I cut myself numerous times because of sharp edges on some of the shrouds protecting the element.
