How to Troubleshoot & Replace Samsung AP4201898 / DC47-00018A Dryer High Limit Thermostat

Replaced the heating element and the thermostat. Ordered the thermal fuse as well, but it didn’t come riveted to the bracket like the one already in the dryer so I couldn’t use it. The YouTube video was perfect. 

Replaced the heating element and while apart also installed a new thermostat and thermal fuse. 

I knew we needed to replace either the thermistor, thermostat or thermal fuse. I didn't have the equipment to test and see which one. Because our dryer is 9 years old, I figured it is only a matter of time before the others break, so I decided to just replace all 3 while I have the dryer torn apart. 

I pulled the element housing, after following the handy DIY video for taking the dryer apart. Replaced the thermal fuse and, just to be safe, the dryer thermostat. Got the dryer taken apart and put back together in a little over an hour.

After watching a how-to video on the website, I cross checked the part needed and ordered it with next day delivery. The part arrived as expected, and I installed it without any issues in less than hour. I would add to the video what others have said about vacuuming out the appliance inside, but otherwise the video was spot on. I found this site while searching for the part/instructions online, and noticed many other popular generic sites advertising much cheaper, non-genuine parts with horrible reviews. Appliance Parts Pro was the only company I could find that offered detailed exploded drawings of the Samsung Gas Dryer. The drawings helped me locate the suspect components in the heat control system without completely disassembling the dryer. They also had the necessary parts in stock. Heat problems are difficult to track down because a balance of temperature must be maintained for the dryer to work properly. Anything from a malfunctioning sensor to air flow issues can upset the balance of heat transfer and cause the dryer to not work properly. david 

I ordered the heating element, thermostat, and thermal fuse just in case the element wasn't the culprit. I followed the instructional video as closely as possible. There were a few differences, but the video was still very helpful. Once the machine was opened, the part was exactly where the video said it would be. Overall, the process took about an hour to complete. Not complicated at all.
