How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6019708 / WPW10330804 Speed Governor

I purchased a new speed control plate, governor, phase control board and seal. As long as I was fixing it, I just changed everything. As I was removing the old, I found one wire had broken off the control plate and had to replace the flag connector on the wire.(white wire) I followed the videos and they were great!! I would not have known about the speed control adjustments and would have taken the screws out without thinking. The repairs went easy as the video. I checked the adjustment and had the right revolutions at low and 6. However I did not have any different speed above 6. It seemed to be dragging a bit. I took off the planetary and cleaned and applied new grease, put it back together and then had the higher speeds. Magic?? Back in business!! I ordered the parts on a Tuesday morning, they were shipped within a short time, I think less than a hour and had them in my hands the next day. Hard to believe they came so fast (FED EX) I am glad I found you! Thanks! 

First check if current was reaching speed control plate. Found out it wasn’t. Control Contact plates were burn out. Test it by having control plates make contact and machine Starter to work again. Seek out part and watch applianceparts video DYS and since governor control was there accesible. Did replacement it too since machine have been used quiet sometime. 

First I ordered a Speed Control Plate and installed it. This made no difference even doing the recommended adjustments to screws. I went back to the website and read more comments and decided to order the Phase Control Board and the Speed Governor. After installing all of these speed control parts, it ran like a brand new machine. Thanks for the great videos that gave me the confidence to tackle this repair myself. I bought new brushes just for backup and the stock was running low. 

I've had my Kitchen Aid stand mixer for years and it was given to me by my mother-in-law who also had it for years. It's probably a model from the early 2000s but has always worked beautifully. A few weeks ago, it started speeding erratically unexpectedly. After a bit of research and discovery and tinkering, I still could not figure out why the problem was happening. I inquired about having it fixed professionally but that would've cost me a minimum of $100 plus whatever parts on top of that. I use my mixer multiple times a week and couldn't really leave it in the shop for a week either. After watching a few of the videos from Appliance Parts Pros, I thought that maybe I could give fixing it myself a try. So I ordered the 3 parts that are recommended together (cost roughly $45), paid for the expedited shipping, got the parts in 2 days and spent roughly an hour slowly working through the videos to remove the old parts and install the new ones. I am a mom of a 4 year old and a 9 month old and they do not leave me alone so this was all done with constant interruptions and sometimes, my baby on my hip. Even still, I was able to do each part and piece easily and smoothly. Lo and behold, I fixed the dang thing! I'm so impressed with myself actually! Thanks to these guys for saving me a bunch of $ and time and the ego boost! 

I ordered and new speed governor, phase control board, and speed control plate. It took me 7 minutes to install and only 10 minutes to fine tune it. The videos you guys have were perfect and so detailed, I watched them once and it was a breeze to install. 

The first thing i changed was the Speed Control Plate. However that did not fix the problem. So i ordered a Phase Control Board and that corrected the problem and it took about 15 min to change it. At the same time i ordered a speed Governor but did not have to change it i will keep it for parts. 

I replaced three parts since I was doing the repair anyway and would have the mixer apart. The Phase Control Board, the Speed Control Plate and the Speed Governor. I was not that much more to replace all the parts, and I wanted to get it right the first time. The videos that accompany the parts when you look them up are extremely easy to follow along and I was able to quickly disassemble, replace and make all necessary speed adjustments. I highly recommend Appliance Parts Pros as I got my parts quickly as well. Great job! 

Looked at brushes first then played some video from online on how to adjust the speed. Tried that and it did not fix the problem. Went online to AppliancePartsPro and started a conversation with a representative and together we worked on possible fixes. She suggested a phase control board. I also ordered a speed control plate and speed governor just in case. Even though I didn't ask for expedited shipping the parts came in 2 days. The parts order came online with video links to help with the repair. I replaced the phase control board and speed control plate because I had them. The more that I researched the speed governor I realized that it probably was not the problem. I will keep it for backup. 

My husband and I looked at repair videos on line. We first cleaned out all the old grease and replaced it with new. We still could hear the noise so decided to change out the speed control plate and the speed governor. The videos were very helpful and our replacing the parts was a simple one. We still hear the noise, but it is not as prominent as it was. We were amazed at the delivery time. 

Replaced the speed control handle in various other parts, the videos that are posted with the website are incredible and they tell you exactly how to do it very easy to repair.
