How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6005965 / WP2180226 Control Bracket

After watching video on how to remove front bezel it was still difficult to snap it out at the bottom, but finally snapped off. From that point all was easy to replace bracket and system now works fine. 

I replaced the bracket in the in-door dispenser assembly. The two small round plastic supports for the ice dispenser switch were broken which allowed the switch to fall down and no longer be engaged when pressing the ice actuator. The videos by Matt from AppliancePartsPros.com are fantastic. I found a video that helped diagnose the issue and the video provided with the part order confirmation were just what I needed to complete the repair. These videos are top quality, professional and provide the right level of information for anyone to complete the repairs. 

Husband thought it was the auger motor. Ordered it; installed it; still, no ice delivered out of chute. Ice maker was working, just no delivery. Then after watching some of your videos, and checking our refrigerator front panel, I discovered the bracket was broken on the ice delivery side. Bracket was ordered, installed, and now everything works. Your parts delivery system is fantastic. I ordered one day, the part was delivered the very next day. Ordered part from Appliance Parts Pro and watched the installation video. Installation was easy and very straightforward after having watched the video. Only problem I had was the bracket holding the micro switches had a broken tab, not something I did, but something that was already there. Ice dispenser would not work after installing the door, but I ended up getting online with Appliance Pro's live chat and the lady whose name was Keisha told me to check the bracket holding the switches. I had not realized the little black box was in fact a micro switch and as soon as I realized that, I saw the problem as the top of the ice maker lever was not making contact with the switch due to the broken tab. Somehow, I managed to get the switch to stay in place and the ice dispenser starting working. In the mean time, I ordered a replacement bracket from Appliance Parts and will install it today. Could not do it without your great installation videos. 

Disassembled front door panel according to the on line instructions available on AppliancePartsPros.com and found a broken microswitch bracket to the ice dispenser lever. The part was in stock and cost less then $9.00 and was shipped and received in less than 3 days. It took about 20 minutes to complete removal and installation process using only a screw driver. Very easy, and saved about $145 in repair bills if a service technician was called. What a life saver! 

My brother referred me to your site. I checked out the parts grid, then scrolled down to a part that had a video. (I didn't even know how to get the face plate off. After watching a video, I was able to get inside and find the problem. The pins that held the sensor switch in place had broken. REPLACED THE ICE MAKER ASY AND PLASTIC. BRACKET BY THE DISPENSER AREA. ON FREEZER DOOR 

I watched an online video that suggested the modeling inside the door, that held the switch to activate the ice delivery system, was broken. I checked and this was indeed the issue (when I pressed the switch with my finger it worked). I popped out the old modeling which was just held by retaining tabs and found a number on it. An online search found the part at appliancepartspros.com so I ordered it. There was a brief mix-up with the order that delayed shipping by one day but it is times like these that a company is truly tested. appliancepartspros.com proactively sent me an email letting me know about the mix-up, waived the shipping charges, sent the part overnight and offered me a discount on a future order. Wow! They passed the test! The new part arrived and I had it installed in less than 10 minutes (and I am an IT guy by trade not an appliance repair man). 

After reading online, I figured I might have a bad auger motor since it would not turn when the ice arm was depressed. I decided to take a look at the switch before I ordered anything. After removing the two screws that hold the feont plate on and removing it, I was able to see that the switch was loose. After further review, I could see that the plastic mounting bracket had broken. I looked up the part online and ordered it. To install you have to disconnect a few connectors and replace the bracket and then replug them in. Be careful to make sure they all go back in the same spot. I took some pictures to help with this. When I was done everything worked fine. For a temporary fix, I tie wrapped the switch in place.
