How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6014843 / WPW10074580 Inner Cap

I was just cleaning the drain system and found that the original cap and washer were dried out and did not sit flush when reinstalled. I ordered the parts and they arrived very quickly and went in perfectly.

My problem was/is that the water is not draining all the time. I thought maybe the washer is not spinning at times or a pump issue so I visually checked the pump and it appeared fine. I decided to start with changing out the lid switch. If that isn't the problem, at least I have a new switch for a 15 yr old washer. I replaced the lid switch by taking the top panel off and learned that by watching the videos on your website and others on YouTube. The videos were a lot of help because not all the panels on the washers unlatch the same way. Anyway it was a fairly easy fix and I am hoping that the switch was the problem. If not then i'll try and check the washer motor coupling. This was my first time ever working on the washer. Thanks for the videos, they saved me money on calling a repair person. 

I opened up the dryer, removed the belt. The belt was riddled with cracking and was very dry so I figured the belt was slipping on the drum. When I received the new belt I stretched the 2 belts out together. The new one was definitely shorter, indicating the old belt was stretched. I installed the new belt and the dryer works like new. 

Found a fabulous YouTube video specifically addressing my problem, from AppliancePartsPros.com that clearly showed how to make the repair - 4 lint filter plugs below the agitator. There was even a link to the needed parts. I ordered them, received them in 4 days, installed the filter plugs per the video and VOILA - problem solved! Simple, easy fix. Great experience. 

I looked at the schematic and determined what parts I needed to order. I placed my order and the parts arrived quickly. 

I ordered the Short Cam Agitator Repair Kit and a new Agitator Bolt. 

We replaced the Agitator Dogs. 

I looked up the model number on your web site, used your diagram for that model number. Also watched a video to make sure I could complete the job with those parts. Very happy with the parts I recieved, also your how to videos are great. Instead of just replacing the dogs I decided to relace the whole assembly with the Short Cam Agitator Repair Kit & Inner Cap. Your website is very easy to use and informative. The only tool I needed for this was a 7/16in. socket. very easy fix. 

Replaced agitator dogs. Agitator bolt was corroded. Had to use bolt extractor to remove.
