How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6006882 / WP2260518B Water Filter Cap

The existing motor would come on when you pushed the door paddle for ice, but ice would not dispense. Determined there was an issue in the drivetrain. Had to replace the motor and gearbox assembly for the ice dispenser driveshaft. Also found a cracked driveshaft seal where the shaft enters the freezer compartment. Replacement parts fit perfect and now dispensing ice! 

I purchased a replacement unit, I watched the online repair video and found out how simple it was so I replaced the entire unit. No more leaking and it’s making ice like it did the first day I bought the fridge. 

I called you guys and it was suggested I change out the Water Filter Housing and you were right. We have filtered water again !!! And turned out to be a pretty easy repair !! 

Replaced it 

Changed filter changed inlet jet in back of fridge. I’m good! 

Over the years, multiple things have broken on my refrigerator and I have either used my friend, duct tape or just dealt with the missing part. The broken shelf was the last straw sending me on a search for a replacement. Had it known it was so easy to replace the broken parts, I would have done it years ago! I now have a new shelf, door bin, and ice chute yay! I no longer have ice shooting everywhere but my glass!!) and water filter cap. Parts arrived in 48 short hours! I couldn’t be more pleased with my experience! 

I ordered a cap, opened the package with the cap inside, put the cap on the filter, put the assembly back in the fridge. 

Easy as pie with the new cap . 

Replaced filter and cap. 

Put it on.
