How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP7205486 / W11629974 Ice Level Control Board

Looked up on line what the problem could be. Seemed to be the board. Spent 45 minutes on hold with KitchenAid. Once I got through they could not confirm what I learned online and wanted 100$ more for the same part. Great tutorial on appliancepartspros.com. I have ice, only took a few minutes. 

I replaced the Ice Level Power Control Board Kit. The how to replace the part video was a big help. Installed the part in 20 to 30 minutes, and had ice after it completed its cycle. 

I called and asked for advice... The first attempt was to change the water inlet valve. That was a fairly complex but inexpensive repair, but it was not the problem. I called back and after a few minutes on the phone with support, we were able to determine that the ice level power control board was the culprit. It was a little on the spendy side but was a 10-minute job and now it works like a champ! Thanks appliancepartspros! 

Since it was older, I decided to replace the ice maker. Bought the part and installed it. That didn't fix the problem so I defrosted freezer to make sure line wasn't frozen. That didn't fix it. I decided the only other part to replace was the ice maker controller which uses a light beam to control the ice production. I purchased the part and got it in a couple of days. Easy installation and now it is working. The videos were great and the quick delivery was appreciated. 

Based on reading other comments it looked like my problem was with a failed optics board. I called their toll free number and spoke with a technician. He confirmed one or both of the 2 optic boards weren’t working properly. I ordered the new part and the technician said I should receive it in about 5 days. I received it the next day and was able to swap out the boards in about 10 minutes. The ice maker is working as it should now! Highly recommend this company and their parts. 

Ordered parts. Received them 2-days later. I had it fixed in 15 min. Watched your video and it was easy. Thank you. A repairman would have cost me double or more. 

Replaced it 

Replaced the Level Sensor. 

Replaced the Ice Level Power Control Board Kit. It FIX it and now I have ICE again 

Repair worked great. I actually had to replace two parts but not bad on a 10 year old refrigerator. The first issue was ice cube getting stuck in the icemaker preventing next cycle from operating. This was intermittent issue I've had for several years where usually I could dislodge the ice and getting it working again. Bought the part 6 months ago but then I was able to get it started again as soon as I received the part so never installed it. When it stopped again I replaced the ice maker assembly but then ended up with another part failure in the meantime. Was able to read up on others postings and the expert advice to diagnose that the electronic infrared sensor had gone bad. Received the new electronic boards on the sensor and installed and the next morning I had a full bucket of ice. Video of both part replacement was easy to understand and the recommendations from the pro was very helpful in diagnosing / testing the sensor part.
