How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP7205486 / W11629974 Ice Level Control Board

I got on line and read about diagnosing my problem and found exactly what our problem was by the blinking lights spoken of in the test. We ordered the emitter board and it fixed it. No repairman labor. Thanks so much. Anyone dreading having to pay a repairman please go on this website and figure it out and do it yourself! You will be so glad! 

Changing the ice maker did not repair the problem, but changing the ice level power control board got the ice maker working again. 

I found many sources online for troubleshooting the problem, although not for my model. I Identified that sensor optics were not working properly by using the same principles available for debugging an in-the-door icemaker. The optics emitter and receiver boards needed to be replaced. I ordered the two boards together in one package and they successfully solved the problem. Note that Kitchenaid (for this model) shows the boards in the parts list as included as part of the freezer bin divider assembly (receiver board) and icemaker switch assembly (emitter board). I didn't need those parts, so I just ordered the optics boards specified for other models. They worked fine and I saved about $100 by not having to purchase the plastic parts. 

The part worked perfectly as described. It took me 4 minutes. 

Replaced the emitter board that controls ice level in container. Did not instal the receiver board since just replacing the emitter board solved issue. Saved receiver board for future. Emitter led light was probably burned out after 8 years of use. 

I changed the water filter - It needed it anyway. I changed the water inlet valve and installed it myself, ordered it from this website and watched the video. Still no ice. Called a repairman out and he ran diags, determined to be the circuit boards for the icemaker. Ordered the part from here, watched the video, arrived on time, fast and intact. Installed the new circuit boards and in about 6 minutes. An hour later the fridge was making ice!!! Yipee!! I will use Appliance Parts Pro again if I have to. I like the fact you can double check your part based on your appliance model number. Thank you for your superb business! dan

Searched Internet for trouble shooting, found the optical sensor was bad. Your website had a video on how to install the new one. I ordered the part and it arrived in one day! Installed the circuit board and my ice maker immediately started working 

Replace transmitter and receiver in freezer area. Repair went well. Good instruction from website! 

Ordered elec cntrl unit, viewed video. fixed problem in five minutes part came within two days. Ice maker now working.
