My Maytag Performa dryer was spinning but not heating up. When I lifted the lid I could easily see that the heating element was totally cooked. I ordered a new heating element from Appliance Parts Pros and got it very quickly.
After I unplugged the dryer I loosened a few screws, disconnected a couple of wires, and pulled out the burnt element. I replaced the thermal fuse (it was melted too) which comes with the heating element kit. Slid in the new heating element, screwed it down and reconnected the wires. I plugged the dryer back in and set it to a heating dryer setting and viola! it worked!
A super easy fix. There's plenty of videos online showing how to do this. I highly recommend fixing your dryer/washer yourself if you can - you can do it! You'll save hundreds and hundreds of dollars.
The Appliance Parts Pros website is really easy to navigate and you can look up parts by your appliances model number. The delivery is quick - usually within the next business day. It's very satisfying fixing your own appliances and not relying on a repair person or buying a whole new appliance.
