How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6008281 / WP3387747 Dryer Heating Element

Replaced heater 

Watch the YouTube tape on how to replace the heating unit. I pulled the unit from the Maytag dryer. I inspected the heating coil and found a brake in the coil. I put a new coil in. I saved the thermostat infused diet ordered for a future maintenance. The dryer runs great. As long as I had the corrected parts on the YouTube video, I was golden. 

A quick Google on "Kenmore Elite dryer no heat" found the AppliancePartspros.com video on the topic. I followed the troubleshooting directions. Even though I haven't used a multi-meter in years, I was able to confirm the heating element was dead. I pulled out the heating element, and searched on the exact part number on AppliancePartPros and ordered it. Much to my surprise, it arrived the following day. I popped in the new part, reconnected all the wires, and voila -- working dryer. 

Replaced heat strips 

Dryers from 2005 - found a YouTube video. Had to replace heat element from the front (not the back as assumed) bottom panel. Bit tricky. 

Replaced the element, works great 

Replaced heating element. WED5600XW0. Had replaced heating element four years ago so I was familiar. Used aftermarket part at that time. 

Found the offending part (thermal cutoff) and then down the rabbit-hole of why it tripped. Turns out the motor was failing and could not spin the blower wheel fast enough to move the air out of the dryer resulting in an overheat condition, thus tripping the cutoff.
