How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6007247 / WP2315539 Evaporator Motor

Replaced evaporator fan motor behind panel at rear of freezer. Ordered on Sunday evening, received the part Tuesday afternoon and the refrigerator works good as new. 

Replaced the evap motor 

I began checking myself and with the unit off, removed the icemaker and the panel covering the evaporator.Then turned the unit on and found that the evaporator fan motor wound not start. Now this Maytag 18 cf top freezer refrig was only 3 months out of warranty so I was fortunate to find a replacement motor in your parts list. I placed the order on Sunday with 2 day delivery for an extra $6.00 and it was delivered at 1:30 PM on the following Tuesday, which was one day early.The installation was simple but due to the manufacture's loose tolerences, I had to enlarge the panel mounting holes to make the panel clear the fan blades.I was totally dissatisfied with the Tech who charged $108.25 for a non repair. But I'm happy with your support and I'm keeping your address on file for the future.--Lawrence R. Andros 

Replaced the evaporator fan motor and blades in back of freezer compartment. Simple easy fix . Runs great 

Replaced. 

Unplug Refrigerator, Removed all food from top freezer, unscrewed 6 screws to remove the plastic cover in the rear of top freezer. Towel was placed inside of freezer. Hair dryer was used to thaw built up ice behind plastic cover. (don’t use dryer inside of freezer just point inside) Remove white installation cover. Now you should see a fan bolted to rear of freezer, unscrew 2 screws this will release a bracket, unsnap 2 wires and remove 1 ground wire, used a screwdriver to pop off fan and plastic piece, replace condenser fan and put a plastic piece on bottom of new condenser. (plastic pieces came off of the old condenser) Reverse your steps to reinstall. 

I replaced the evaporator fan motor with a new motor from appliance parts. Process was simple: unplug fridge, remove panel in back of freezer, unscrew fan housing from back wall, remove fan blade from existing motor, unplug ground, unplug power and controls harness, put in new fan motor and reverse the order and reinstall the new motor. Two things were tricky, you may need to defrost your fridge if ice has built up before you turn it back on or before you can remove the back panel. Also don’t forget to remove the plastic spacer from the old fan motor and put it on the new one it prevents the fan blades from hitting the sides of the housing. 

I called a repair man to check it out and he told me it was the Evap motor and quoted me 500.00 bucks to repair it. I told him to have a nice day, the jumped on the computer to AppliancePartsPros.com and looked up part and watched the video that is include on the website for how to repair. Voila, I got my part in a few days and within 30 mins my fridge was up and running perfectly. The cost was excellent. I want to Thank you guys for being there for people like me how can do but don't know how to do. You gave me the how to, and thank you for saving me a whole lot of money.. Excellent Excellent. 

Remove the old one and installed the replacement motor. 

Purchased start capacitor, that wasn't the problem. Went to your website and saw your video. That is when I found the problem,.evap motor fan wasn't spinning fast or not at all. Ordered part it came within five days. Blowing ice cubes. Thanks to your videos, I highly recommend your site. I am not a pro
