How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6007247 / WP2315539 Evaporator Motor

Your appliance pros suggested a couple of possible problems. The easiest fix was to replace the evap. fan motor. Using your repair video for my model fridge, I was able to follow the instructions to expose the evap motor and test it. Sure enough, the motor was barely running. I replaced it and solved the problem. The video fridge didn't look like mine, but it was close enough to let me figure out the process. Big help. 

Replaced the evaporator fan motor 

Opened up the area in the freezer where the fan, coils, and defroster are located and noticed the evaporator motor had burned up (small spot of the motor and freezer ceiling had melted). Noticed some of the wiring was slightly corroded so decided to get a new wiring harness as well. I did not need to BIMETL-DEF - it was included with the wiring harness. 

I noticed there wasn’t any air blowing into the refrigerator section. I inspected the evaporator fan and found it was not working. I went to appliancepartspro.com and entered the model number. The first item that popped up in the parts list was the fan motor. I bought it and installed it.

One of my boys arrived because Consumer's Energy people couldnt get here for 4 days, than it would have been another 3 days before they could get part. , We just finally got grocerys that would go bad, in 2 days we got the replacement part and the boys had the refridgerator fix. 

Researching the problem I came to AppliancePartsPros.com, which suggested my issue could be a failed Evaporator Motor. I opened up the freezer and accessed the motor, and when I turned the fan by hand, it rotated unevenly and seemed to skip a spot where there should be resistance, making me think it had gone bad. I ordered a new Evaporator Motor from AppliancePartsPros.com and followed your DIY video to install it. As soon as I plugged in the fridge, I heard the new motor come on and could feel cold air being blown once again into the fridge compartment. It took several hours to cool down to the proper temperature. It was a rewarding experience to be able to fix it myself. Thank you!
