How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6007247 / WP2315539 Evaporator Motor

Noticed that there was little or no air flow in the freezer. Learned that the evaporator motor is a common problem. Replaced the motor, using your how-to video as guidance. My model was a little different, but the steps were the same, and the installation was not difficult. Turned it on, and there was air flow - problem solved. 

Received a new motor in a day and a half from AppliancePartsPros.com. I installed it in about an hour! 

I noticed the fan behind the freezer wasn't turning on. Googling this led me to appliancepartspros.com and some YouTube videos on replacing the fan. I got the model number of the Maytag, put it on their website, identified the evaporator fan, and ordered a replacement. It only took a day to arrive since one of their warehouses is 20 miles from my house. It took about 45 min to install the new fan and button things up. My 9-year-old refrigerator is back up and running. Of course, the whole project took several hours since I had to diagnose the problem from scratch, empty out the refrigerator, reinstall the new part, put all the food back in, and clean things up. I also vacuumed the coils and cleaned underneath the refrigerator while I was at it. Before replacement, the thermostat was set at 3.5 (3 is recommended), and now it's set at 2, which is an improvement. 

Replacing the Evaporate Motor fixed my problem. It was a very simple repair. My problem was that the freezer was ice cold and freezing up, but the fridge was getting warm. Water was also dripping in the back of the fridge. The passageways between the freezer and the fridge were clogged with ice, which was melting and dripping into the fridge. Replacing this motor corrected the airflow, so everything is working correctly again. The repair took less than 15 minutes. I did have to let the freezer defrost before I could remove the back panel on the inside of the freezer. 

The repair went well. 

Cooling fan was intermittently freezing up in our refrigerator/freezer. Watched the video, ordered the fan motor on Sunday, had it by Tuesday. Fan works perfectly with the new motor. Nice repair video and excellent service.

I replaced both parts. Note: I feel the bad temp sensor was the cause of the evap fan burning out due to contined ice build up around the fan.
