How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP5985148 / W10822259 Refrigerator Condenser Fan Motor

Replaced worn motor 

I used the online chat page,,,, very helpful. Two seperate orders just to make sure I fixxed any and all problems. Used the online videos to get an idea, anyone can do it. I have a little skills, but had never done this before, I am pretty good and putting things back together the way I found it. The videos helped allot showing me what to expect. The online chat, folks insured I ordered the right part and sent me the videos on my request for my repair. I changed the water and ice relay/valve, fan motor, compressor starter and over heat relay. All in about an hour. My refrigerator is working great now. Also the parts got to my home the next day, almost faster than the store could deliver the frig I just bought. So now I have a beer frig! The wife got the new frig! Win win! 

New motor 

I purchased a new motor from Appliance Parts Pros who had the best prices that I was able to find. I watched their video before ordering the part so I would know how to make the repair. Their repair videos are very well done, informative and helpful. I removed the old motor and installed the new one in less then 30 minuets following the video instructions. Looked at your video and it walked me step by step 

Ordered a new condenser fan motor. The replacement item arrived quickly. Only problem was it being made in China, two of the three mounting screw receptacles were not threaded. I had to tap them out myself but made it work just the same. 

Researched the symptoms and found the problem was caused by a faulty condenser fan motor. Searched for a replacement fan motor and found it on Appliance Parts Pros website. Placed a small portable fan behind refrigerator to keep the condenser cool and ordered the part. I received the part in about two days with standard shipping. Refrigerator is up and running just fine after installing the part which took about 15 mins. 

The replacement part that we ordered arrived within a few days. 'Was easy to install,and my husband was glad that he didn't have to cut/splice any wires.Plugged right in! 

I watched your video, and followed the same steps, very help full. will use your web site again! 

The installation of the new condenser motor was as the video described; there were no surprises. I noted the difference in operation immediately, the fan was moving at a higher rate of speed in a smoother motion. The new motor had far less shaft end play and seems to move more air across the condenser coil than the original motor. All in all, this was a relatively easy repair that solved a real refrigerator performance problem; the unit now cycles less often and generates less compressor heat.
