How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6011844 / WP8182793 Drive Motor Assembly

Opened up the back of washer after watching video on your web site that told of possible noise coming from drum bearing and seal. Upon removal of top and back cover I was happy to see that the drum bearing was not leaking. I took the belt off and spun the drum and it was quiet and then spun the motor and the noise was coming from the motor. Also noticed the right rear Shock Absorber was covered with a rusty look and the area around the base below it was covered with brown dried up grease. I consider myself lucky that only had to replace motor and shock and not have to split the drum and all that other stuff. Hope to get another 5 years out of this washer. 

Trouble shooting needed to be more specific. There were 5 pins to check. 3 are load and 2 were for the tachometer. The load (red white & blue/go USA) should have a reading, in pairs of 1-7 ohms on multimeter. The 2 small RED wire pins should have the reading of 115 ohms. Mine showed zero, hence the tachometer on the back of the drive motor did not work. You can't buy, per say, the tachometer in this country. Or you can wait weeks. Most of the forums and videos I saw said the most common problem was the MCU (motor control unit). Check the motor first. 

Replaced the motor 

I tried the control board first but the error came back a few weeks later. Put my old board back in and replaced the motor and a new belt next. 4 weeks later and many washes of various sizes and haven't seen the error return.
