Linda, It would be recommended to check to see if there are any error codes stored by putting the unit into service diagnostics. Would suggest checking the belt to make sure that it is good and check for obstructions in the drain pump with water being left. This could be that the pressure switch is not resetting causing the unit to not spin.

Dee, Remove the rear cover and find the drive pulley that has the belt around it. Make sure that has not loosened up. Also, make sure the shocks have not come loose and knocking around inside the cabinet. There are 4 of these and you should see them with the rear cover removed. You can run a spin cycle and watch from the rear and determine where the noise is coming from. A bearing gone bad would be more of a roar unless it's letting the inner tub bounce up and down. A little more inspection is needed to find the source of oil. That motor should not have oil in or on it.

Hello- I am in the process of servicing / repairing my HE5t Kenmore, replacing the tub bearings/seal (due to squeaking noise developing when the machine was last being used regularly) and the water inlet assembly (which somehow got cracked, possibly during the move, preventing the machine from being used). Other things look ok, but wanted to ask a dumb question about the motor itself- I suspect it is probably of the "permanently lubed" variety but wanted to check if there was anything I should do in this regard as a preventative maintenance while I have everything apart. It seems to be ok as far as lack of play in the shaft, turning freely, etc. I do feel that it doesn't turn as quietly as when new, but its not like there's grinding / squeaking or anything like that. Thank you for your time-

Austin, There is really no preventative maintenance that would be needed for the drive motor on the unit. If the motor is operating with no noise then it would be fine and if there is squeaking then the issue will be a motor that is bad.

Hello C.J., This can be the motor or motor control baord but you should pull the units' tech sheet and run the diagnostic test to pull any fault codes. This is the best way to determine what circuit to look for an issue in.

Jim, There should be no more than an 1/8" at the most play in the drive shaft motor and if the front bearing is moving in and out of its seat then the motor would need to be replaced.

Dan for Model Number GHW9150PW0

I am getting an F11 error. I've replaced the MCU. It actually didn't fix the problem. I then had a reputable repair tech come to the house and he diagnosed it as a pump issue, but I chose to order the part from you and received excellent service, however, once I installed the pump, I was still receiving the F11 error. My question, do I need to do anything to reset the system, any tricks I can perform to get the CCU and MCU communicating properly again, the tech mentioned that the units were working fine and that power was getting to the boards, but still getting the errors.

1 Answer

Hello Dan, The F-11 is a Serial Communication Error. Communication between the Central Control Unit (CCU) and the Motor Control Unit (MCU) cannot be sent correctly. POSSIBLE CAUSES / PROCEDURE 1. Unplug washer or disconnect power. 2. Check wire harness connections to the MCU, the motor, and Central Control Unit (CCU). 3. Check the drive system for any worn or failed components. 4. Plug in washer or reconnect power. 5. Verify CCU operation by running a Diagnostic test or any cycle. 6. Check the MCU by looking for operations of the drive motor. 7. Check the drive motor for powered rotations. 8. Check that the serial harness at the MCU is not mounted upside down. The wires should be to the left when facing the MCU connectors.

Hello Raj! Unfortunately the manufacturer does not sell the bearing for the motor. However if you are able to locate one, you might be able to replace the bearing. Thanks!
